Question Best Valued New Porsche?

A friend asked my opinion on what's the best valued new Porsche and after giving some thought I honestly admitted to him it could very well be the 2010 new Boxster S

It's a roadster/cab (a pricey option for the 997), mid engined and now has a DFI 310 hp engine.

PDK and the new 19" 997.2 S rims are available options.

It has LEDS and got a similar interior upgrade for 2010 as the 997.2.

Although I haven't seen the track times or the acceleration #'s for the 2010 S, I'd Imagine the PDK cars will be impressive especially comp'd to the non S 997.2.

The car with PDK, the new 19's, leather "bucket" sport seats and dynamic cornering bi-xenons is $66,285...a new 997.2 non S cab with the same options is $ $96,805....a full $30,000 more.

Obviously it's not a 911, but he asked not which is the better car, but the best value.

I never been a boxster fan (even though I love the 550 it was based upon) but the new S looks pretty nice, finally breached the 300 hp level, has PDK and is less of a "chicks car". Would I trade my Carrrera S for one? no, but the value question is an interesting one indeed.

The Boxter problem with reference to value is how quickly they depreciate . Another snag is that if someone is over 6 ft tall the seat space can get cramped . At 5'10 " I had the seat all the way back in the Boxter . Cayman was a a bit better .

The car has a very balanced road feel and with the top down the door sills are the ideal height for top down driving .

As for the "chick car" --

He's looking to lease so resale is not an issue for him . On another note have you seen the resale prices for 997.1's lately?...yikes.

A Base boxster is a chicks car indeed, but an S is another story.

Value: The $30,000.00 difference vs a 997.2 non S cab is amazing.

Not only is it, argueably, Porsche's best value...but if you look at the competition in other models and what you get with a Boxter, it's a good value there as well, IMO. Probably the best bang for the buck in roadsters.

they do look nice. but yesterday while walking around the dealer i would glance at boxter/cayman and all i could think was "chicks car" being unbias here i also got the "chick car" feeling from the silver cab in the showroom (i own a silver cab) the mean and aggressive "man's car" was clearly a 911 coupe... they just looked so friggin mean like they were going to kill you and eat you for lunch.

if it came down to boxter or 911 i would pay the extra for 911 everyday of the week...

i guess if you put a dollars and sense thing to the equation is does come out more bang for the buck... but id rather throw somemore bucks in... your buying a porsche... might as well make it a PORSCHE!
