The UBB device will play in correct song order if you select the folder mode and have the songs with the track # in the front of the song name.

Just an update. I told the service manager about the problem with the IPod/Aux interface. He sent his mechnanic out to look at it. First time anyone had complained about it, but they're talking to the Porsche rep about it. I'll find out more tomorrow. If more people report it, Porsche may do something about it.

Ipod Classic PCM 3.0

Does anyone with PCM 3.0 and Ipod Classic (video) that leaves the ipod plugged in and the car unused for an extended period (three days or so) have the ipod anything but battery dead or close to it when they start the car again? I know the ipod charges properly when the car is on but it appears the PCM is not allowing the ipod to go to sleep (only paused). P is telling me to plug and unplug the ipod everytime I am going to leave the car unused for a while (two days in some cases) which works but is inconvenient. I have tried this with a regular ipod clasic and the battery dies there as well it just takes longer. In every case I am kicked out of my playlist (song 545 or whatever) back to album one, song one. Thanx.

That is just absurd to have to remove your ipod every time you turn off your car. My nano seems to shut down when I turn off the car and remove the key. I imagine the classic should work the same way. I have a few ipod docks at home and when I turn them off, the ipod follows suit in about 5 seconds. I let my service advisor know about the issues that I was having. Make sure they are taking you seriously too. Should be an easy software fix!

Yes, I think the dealership is taking me seriously. They have replaced a part, done an overnight test on an inventory car, etc. I believe it is a s/w problem on P's side-- I can see the ipod go to pause, I can see the backlight off, but I can still see the info on the non backlit screen indicating it isn't going to sleep. If someone else had a classic that was going to sleep correctly that would tell me it may be a h/w part in the car. There was one other thing they were going to replace but when P came back with the plug/unplug solution they stopped the "fix path" there.

PAG should realize they did not debug the iPod interface and fix it. Let's only hope, or better yet... all customers should contact PCNA and demand it.

Yes...when I don't drive my '09 C4S with iPod Classic hooked up via the Universal Audio Interface for more than a day or two, the iPod is usually dead...I have to wait for it to reboot and then it starts charging during use...it should go to sleep but it doesn't...it is a pain in that regard. Otherwise, I love it. I just have to remember to drive the car every day!!!

My service manager is sending this concern up the chain to PCNA. They would like specifics, like iPod model and software data. I really hope they are not just going to say to take your ipod with you everytime you leave your car! Yikes!

In my case I have an Ipod Classic (video Ipod) that Itunes (windows) says is up to date (1.1.2). This is also the case for my other Ipod classic (non-video) which uses s/w (3.1.1).

I have the same issue and reported it about a month ago. I took it to Porsche and tech said when car goes dark, the iPod should go to sleep shortly thereafter. Since then, on occasion, my iPod will not show up on on PCM and needs to be reset (not dead battery) - then works OK for a few days...Happens to both 3rd Gen Nano and 120 gig 6th Gen Classic.

Have you applied the iPod software patch?

The Classic is running 2.0.1 and is current version. The Nano is 1.1.3 - also current version of software.

S/W Patch

I asked my dealer about this release when info about it was first posted and questioned whether it would have any impact on the ipod issue I was having and the dealer was trying to help with. I was told it would not. From reading the points as to what it covers, I see a reference to iphone and other issues but nothing as to the ipod properly sleeping. If in fact there is an ipod patch in this release that is not disclosed it would be nice to discover it.
