997S PDK vs M5
997S PDK vs M5
It´s quite amazing how´s the 997 S with 115hp less can "almost" keep with the big M.

Take a look at the video 997 vs Audi R8, it+s almost unbelieveble the acceleration difference.

I just don't understand how the 997 vs. the R8 is that big, it just takes off. According to that video, you would expect it to take the M5.
It is important to note that the M5 in the video is tuned.
Would love to see the PDK 997S vs. a stock M5, would be a lot closer than Gustav would like you to believe. Just don't say that on his site, you will get banned.

I, for some reason, could not get my M6 to ever get ahead of my C4S PDK. Now I just have to figure out how to get it on video
Although, rolling start here vs. my actual tries from standstill. I did agree in the last thread that from a roll the results I saw could have been different though I simply have not tried that. My observations were that the PDK launch at ~7k+ RPM gives the porsche a noticeable advantage off the line of 1/2 - 1 car lengths to 70mph or so, and even conceding to the M6/M5's better top end it must be marginal as the M never pulled ahead at any point, and I went from 0 to approx. 150mph multiple times to test. I'm no expert and it was not a scientific testing so by no means handing a defeat to the M as it's crazy fast in it's own right. But if anyone were to ask me, 100 times in a row even, which one is faster? I would bet on Carerra S with PDK all day (from a standing stop).

As soon as I get my car I will make some accelerations tests with my friend who has a 580Hp M5. I believe I´ll be faster till 100Kph, he simply can´t put all that power down the tarmac at low speeds.
Hey, shuffles how about a picture of your two beasts standing side by side, would love to see your toys
No you will not be banned on my site for stating such a thing. Why would I publish the video in the first place then?
Yes, this M5 has +40 HP extra and has a quite significant tuning after the engine. Verified pre and post dyno.
M5 Touring stock had to really fight for it to leave the PDK Porsche. Everyone at my event was surprised at the PDK Porsche: it flied for that amoutn of HP. But what really flied was the 997 GT2 "HD".

To beat an M5 it's got to be a Turbo . Even an M3 in a straight line can run a 997.1S on a good day rolling start. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isBoU_Is24g
AMG benz will take the 997S . GtR will too .
A modded Turbo can outrun them all -straight line rolling start but one can still see then in the rear view unless they are stock and the 997tt is heavily modded at 700+ . Then you won't .

The 997S is a fast car but straight line speed is not its greatest strength.

Thank you!
Yo J. despite the phenomenal weather we've been having down here in SoCal lately, I can't seem to get out of work before 8pm. Weekends have been just as bad lately. When I do, I will snap a few pics.
