2005 911 Cab vs 2006 911 S Cab

Hi,

I am looking into buying a 997 Cab and was hoping to get some advice. At my local dealer, they have a precertified speed yellow 2005 997 Cab with essentially no options listing for $49k and a precertified sliver 2006 997S Cab with leather/litronics/power seats/19in wheels for $60K. Both cars have about 20k miles. Which is the better deal? How much should I ask off? And what are people's experiences with the two different type of cars? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Jeff

I would opt for the 06 C2S, and I think it is a better deal. Do a search on AutoTrader and Cars.com for those models/options to check other asking prices and get a feel for the market. I always assume a dealer will take a reasonable offer in this market. GL with purchase.

I would not even look at the speed yellow . Resale on that color is dismal .
Plus the S has more things but I don't like the miles .

Your region is very hard for that 60K range with 06 cars. Although I haven't looked at Cabs I did look at coupes with Steph 280 and he found an 08 . Joe Shark and I looked at cabs a few weeks ago and he scored an amazing car .

I'll peek at cabs . But between those two cars I would choose neither but if I had to choose one it would be the S.

Your area is literally swimming in cabs . I am not kidding . I saw car after car listed on auto trader at just about every major dealership . Less miles .. forget about what price they ask . Look at 07 and 08 cars because you can knock between 10 and 15K off the ask price . If they say no .. big deal . Their loss.

There's no shortage --that's for sure.

CA purchases ..

You can get '08's for 25K to 30K off MSRP without even batting an eye. Another words, if you find a basic S cab, you can spend about 72K for a new car. If you can make the stretch go for it.

Jeff,

What's the upper end of your budget? I may have a few cars that might work from when I was looking (with great help from Larry) for my car going back three months. Many of them are still available and I've had some discussion on a few of them so I might have some inside pricing that could help you out. I'll assume you're looking for a 6speed. Color preferance?

Thanks for the reply guys! My budget is below $60k because I am also looking to buy a house. I am assuming the dealer will take $55k for the 06S cab... What do you think?

Btw, I don't have much color preference. I guess I would prefer, blue, black, grey, red, silver in that order... Thanks!

Just not enough info to assist including how long you expect to keep the car. You may keep the yellow several more months than you might expect come resale time. . There is a clean, 14K, yellow 06 cab that has been sitting on a lot in SW FL forEVER and it is priced $47K with a bunch of expensive options.

Look around, and yes, I think you can make it to 55. There are a few private sellers in your area, charging top $. I found this with a quick internet search, but neither of them were s models.

I plan to drive the car until it explodes so resale doesn't really matter to me...

You are struggling . Here this may help you . Awhile back there was this thread . You can read the whole thing but might be boring until you get to post number 25 and beyond . On number 27 a forum member makes a recommendation . https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ion-two-2.html

When Steph280 was looking at cars I showed him the thread , he went there and bought a car . They have a bunch of cabs listed on auto trader priced more recent than their website in terms of asking prices . Look on auto trader . Call them up and see . I think you will end up in a car without going beyond your own back yard. Good luck.
