I should correct a couple of things - you will see me at the drag strip Larry, just watching instead of driving.

Second - I feather into first gear targeting 1,100 rpms and then go full throttle once the clutch is fully engaged - which you can feel happen.

If you want do burnouts of high rev clutch drops, then you have the wrong car. These cars are not set up for launching, do it too often and you will wear out your clutch and possible break other things.

If you want to do burnouts go buy a new Mustang, the whole car costs about the same as the engine and transmission on a 997.

Wide rear tires + relatively low torque = no burnouts (except in the wet!)

In drag racing (or autocross) a burnout is done to warm up the tires before the start. Warm tires have more traction. During the actual start the tires should not spin.

I would like to know how Porsche gets the 4.7 sec 0-60 mph that is in their specifications.
