7:50 --- 157.79 km/h -- 2009 Porsche Carrera S (PDK, PASM, sport tyres)
7:59 --- 154.82 km/h -- Porsche 997 Carrera S, PASM setting “Performance”, (Walter Roehrl WHEELS 06/ 2004)
There is a 19 second difference between the 997.1 Carrera S and Turbo. The new 2009 Carrera S cuts that time into half and drops the difference to 10 seconds! amazing actually...

the 7:59 with the 997.1 Carrera S is done by Walter Rohrl so probably could not be done any better than that...
Oh yes, the PSC's or other comp tire will lower the times dramatically. Walter Rohrl I think ran the 7:58 in the 997.2S as well.
Just shows you on paper it looks like it will be a lot faster, but even the older S is no slouch.
Dave

BTW the 7:58 you mentioned with the 997.2, was it manual or PDK? do you know?
