I have a '09 C4S with PDK. I am thrilled w/ PDK. I also have TipTronic in my Cayenne GTS so not hard to see that PDK is a big advance. Full disclosure: one key consideration was my wife driving the car, she doesn't do manual.

 

When driving in the city / freeways, I still enjoy having control of how the car shifts gears. I am not interested in the speed of shifting from gear to gear!! Holding in the clutch pedal a little longer when shifting gears is nice because I can hear the engine / exhaust sound change in-between the shifts. PDK takes this pleasure away with it's microsecond gear shifts.. Anyway, just my take on the PDK vs Manual.

 

We manual lovers are a dying breed. Porsche will be going the way of F & L cars that have 90% sales with F1 trans.

 

I did 26 years of manual - as they say, variety is the spice of life. I figured if I didn't like PDK, I wouldn't do it again. Is this my last car? I doubt it.

PDK is fun, amazing. And fully controllable - to imagine there is no control is to misunderstand how it works. Sure you can put it "auto" and chill in traffic, but I mostly stay in M/Sport or Sport+ and I love it.

Is it better than manual? It is different - that's all.

 

Test drove c2s pdk...felt bored, bought a manual....got rid of that and got dct m3...love the tranny ...great at the track...so is the pdk (not comparing them)..point is in my opinion the porsche MANUAL gearbox is the best in the world...my fav manual by far...makes the m3 feel like crapola...both kinds of trannies are great...manual definetly more involving and more fun most of the time...but i got to say when im goin thru the canyons with lots of shifting the dct/pdk is amazing

 

Automatic transmission gets me to fall asleep... I totally bore-out when I'm driving an automatic... Including the PDK!

I bought my 997.1 C2S in November, and I bought it new! The only reason that I went for the 997.1 was because it was manual. There was a new 997.2 C2 white w/ black interior (which was the color I wanted) but I didn't buy it bc it had PDK.... I didn't even test drive a PDK!!! Also I didn't want to wait 4 months... And my car has Chrono + PSE

It may be fast, but it doesn't have the FUN included with the PDK...
