Fitting 5/6-Point Harness w/o Roll Cage

I'v heard some talk on it, and did a few searches, but couldn't find anyone who had actually done this. I have heard of a removable bar that you can install in the back for the purpose of mounting the harness too. Has anyone installed on of these or know someone who has? Are they safe? Difficult to install? Any pictures or info is appreciated. Thanks.

We installed 6 point harnesses with Recaro seats in our 996 without a roll cage. The bar we used isn't removable, but I've seen the kind that are. I'm not sure if this was something the person had custom made, but it was nice! I wish I had known about it before having ours installed. The person used their 996 as a DD and wanted to be able to fit a golf bag in the back. And then when it was track time, he'd click the bar into place. I'll see if I can find some more info about it for you!

You can do it with a harness bar. But a full roll bar is the best choice. Here's a pic of a harness bar. You can get a good roll bar at GMG. That would be safer.

BoxsterGirlie01, thats exactly what I'm talking about. I want something that I can use when I feel like a spirited drive, and yet remove to be able to fit a golf bag, 1/4 of a person, or anything else.

gomez, I have seen those bars before, the only problem (at least on the ones I saw) is that they pretty much eliminate the use of the back seats. If I was going to install something that made the back seats useless, I would probably just go with a full roll cage.

With the ones I've seen, the back seatbelts and seats are still completely functional. I'll post up a picture of our interior with the bar, seats, and harnesses and you can see. The cars I've seen with the removable bar looks identical, just that the bar can clip/slide in and out. It'll probably be tomorrow that I can get the pictures as they are on my other PC.
