Options vs. color, buying used...
I have been looking for a nice low mileage 2006 C2S for a while now...I sold my Elise and I'm now ready to pull the trigger whenever I want.
So I think I may have found the one...Car has heated sports adaptive leather seats with memory. Options also included are Sports Chrono package plus and 19 inch Sport designed wheels with around 7k miles. There are no other included options, other than he said it has a Porsche extended warranty...that is transferable, right?
He is asking 60k at this point, he started at $62k. He is the second owner of the car, bought it used with around 6k miles and had it delivered to TX from Chicago.
I first offered $57k and he came down to $60k...I would prefer to meet no more than in the middle at $58.5...am I being unreasonable? Am I about to pay way too much? It is the color I prefer, inside and out...but it is not highly optioned. That is fine with me, but I just want to make sure I'm not paying too much.
Thanks in advance,
Matt

1) What year is the car ?
2) CPO is transferrable . Please specify which "extended warranty" you are discussing.
3) Nothing is mentioned about color Vs Options -thread title . Does this play a role in any of this ?

1. 2006 C2S
2. Not exactly sure...this is the owners 4th Porsche, and he said the warranty was purchased from Porsche. This is a private seller, the second owner.
3. Referenced toward the end of my post...basicly it is the color I most prefer, but does that justify the price considering its not highly optioned? I dont mind paying a little more for the color I want but I'd like to make sure I'm not way off base here on the price.

He's priced too high 53-57 is what its worth . The low miles are a plus . The extended warranty you need to verify and if it's not a CPO who knows. No Bose?
If that warranty is NOT trasferrable then you could end up with an out of warranty 60K car ? That's bordeline automotive pricing insanity (IMO) . even if the "extended" is transerrable --the car is overpriced for an 06 .

Okay thanks again for the quick replies...I really think he is leaning hard on mileage and color combo as a basis for his price. I have made my final offer and we shall see soon enough if he accepts.
Does a certain color combo command more $$$? I mean as long as it is not ugly - rarely have seen an ugly Porsche. Just because it is a color you like, he should not stick it to you. Is it some rare custom color? Describe this flower to us.

I am trying to find something with less than 15k miles at most. That blue C2S does have nice looking wheels. Im not a big fan of the regular S wheels...I much prefer the Carrera Classics or the Sport Designed but its not that big of an issue, just a preference.
Yeah hes a nice guy on the phone, seems sincere...maybe owes more than he should? I have no idea and can only speculate.
The color combo is very similar to the Lotus I just sold...red with beige leather. It also has only 7k miles and looks completely unmolested....also has the sport designed wheels and that makes it look a little more unique to me.
Here is a pic of what I had last week...I plan to keep the "S" stock...with maybe just adding the short shifter and clear sidemarkers.

Well folks here she is!
Not as quick as my supercharged Lotus but very relaxed ride by comparison and much more tq down low. Also the shifting is like butter compared to the Lotus. One downside is the steering has half the feedback but it still feels pretty good.
I'm not too sure of my tires just yet...I got a little sideways on a freeway entry that was more of an "S" turn. It was easy to catch but it did suprise me, I didnt think I was pushing it hard at all. I do remember the pavement was a little uneven and looked like someone ran a rake through sand if that makes sense...maybe that was part of it...but it didnt help me feel confident in the tires after that.
I am used to R888's and these PS2's seem much different. I see they make R888's in Carrera S sizing, how long would they last me on the street? I think you could squeeze out 10k-12k miles on the Elise with maybe 1 or 2 track days tossed in, no problem.
Also, any suggestions on the best PS2 pressures or do I just stick with OEM recommendations?
Thanks! I'm loving the car...

Naive question (I've never driven a Lotus): Everything I've read puts a 997S marginally faster to 60 and pulling away from there. Did yours ("Not as quick as my supercharged Lotus") have some aftermarket mods?
Yes...My 2006 Elise was highly modified with a stage 3 supercharger and an intercooler kit from VF (Vision Function, a side company of TurboXS)...I put down 295 rwhp / 192 rwtq on the dyno, and keep in mind the car only weighs around 1900lbs. I could do 0-60 in under 4 seconds easy....the down fall is at higher speeds over 120 mph or so, most high HP cars will pull the Elise/Exige, as they are not very aerodynamic and need a lot of extra ponies to over come the wall of wind. In addition they are not geared for high speed running, they are much better on a twisty track than one with lots of long straights.
Fun cars though...a true go-kart on steroids! The new owner has a perma-grin.
Congrats on the new ride. Looks great and out of all the stock Porsche OEM wheels, yours are by far my favorite. If my car had come with those wheels (instead of the lobster claws), I would have never gone aftermarket (or at least not right away).
Enjoy and congrats again on the purchase.

Nice car. You got it !!! I use OEM tire recommendations but I noticed on one of my 997S cars (I think it was the 07) that the door panel recommendation was different than the manual . I stuck with manual .
Good luck and Congrats !!
