Agreed, the interface isn't that great and Porsche never updates the maps. Certainly the NAV on the 2009 M3 is far superior.

I agree. After see the nav on couple of 997's, I do not miss it in my car. Plus it can be easily retrofitted if you really think it will help resale value. But based on my experience with other cars, the nav will help with the resale, but not the price.

However, the nav in 09 is definitely worth getting.
