Unless you live 500 miles from work I don't see this. Too fast oil loss. I wonder whether you are checking it on level ground or if the gauge is ok. Very easy to get false reading w car off level. Don't overfill it. The qt in 2700 break in seems reasonable. If it is accurate you must be using > qt/600 miles and the dealer will address it

What seats do you use in summer?
I have the *** for the winter, and the 996 GT3 Euro/Club Sports Seats for the rest of the year.

If it gets really ugly in the winter, I leave it in the garage and bomb around in the Touareg (poor mans Cayenne!)

Well i know on mine it came on at about 2020 miles saying it was low on oil. Checked it and was a quart low. Then just took it out again this weekend and now has 2700 miles on it and was another quart LOW! WHATS going on with this engine!

Speaking of that...go drive the car and heat up the oil and drive back home and check the oil in your garage. Then turn off the car for 3-5 minutes and then recehck the oil. You will see a higher reading the 2nd time around.

Be interesting to see the answer to that question. But I still don't get it. It burned one qt in 2000 miles and another in 700 miles. Hmmm.... my experience w 997 from new was : qt in 800 miles, qt in 1200 miles etc, leveling off at 3-4000 miles per qt. at 18000 miles. That seems more logical if you get what I mean. Are you checking the oil in the same very level spot?

Took it to the track. Drove it hard. Doesnt seem to have used oil. I have a feeling, after a filter and oil change.......and teh recent track outing, the engine will settle down.

On a side note, while it maybe a plain -jane non S, and while on stock tires and with stock brake pads, it was a terrific drive. Quite fast. CFant wait to put some R Comps and Pagid Yellows on it.

First track day this year. It's like an addiction.

The electronic oil monitoring system is nice but I wish they would put a damn dipstick on our cars! My 08 ///m5 had so many probs with the oil level system and they only way we could trust how much oil was in the car was to drain it and then measure it.......btw I have an appointment for a new engine on my 997.1 due to a cylinder/ring problem and high oil consumption.
