I have heard in person on 997's:

Fabspeed
AWE
TUBI
CARAGRAPHIC
GMG

They all sound a bit different and unique, as they should.

But in my opinion my stock muffler with the full GUNDO HACK sound the best! Pure deep Porsche!

My only complaint: Too heavy and too restrictive!

I will be getting custom Hi Flow headers and ZERO cell cats!, this should make them even louder, closer to bypass loud! & get some better breathing!

Like I said, this is my 2 cents

thanks
I have Borla headers and exhaust and I think they're the best.
Most of the others have a raspiness to them--not Borla.
Check out the sound clips.

^^^ On the hack - does a 3.8 sound pretty much the same? For those who have heard and done this mod, is the video a good representation of the actual sound? If not, could you describe the differences?

I had my mufflers "hacked" by FisterD and they sound great. Tough to beat the result-especially for $300 I paid including all the shipping. If you don't like (haven't heard of) your not out a ton of $$$. I've read posts on aftermarket cans that have failed welds that end up damaging other factory components. The factory won't back their part due to "excessive stresses" caused by the poor fit of aftermarket parts. At least with the hacked OE system you get all the original mount locations that meet factory standards.

Good luck!

the 'hack' job produces 2 streams of exhaust that are fighting each other to get out of the tail pipe. you dont have a problem with that?

Matt the 3.6 has a higher pitch sound than the 3.8's. I love the way the 3.6's sound.

1) What evidence do you have that the two passages are fighting each other? It isn't like there is more exhaust to pass, just two different paths to take.
2) How is it different than PSE which opens a valve to allow some bypass in much the same manner?
3) Sounds great for $300-no, I don't have a problem with that.

Far better option than people that retrofit the PSE kit then unplug the valve so it sounds full time like the FisterD hack.

a couple of comments:

1- Gundo did not remove his "hack"... he removed is bypass pipes which were wicked loud... think no muffler... and then implemented the mod.

2- There is no in car droaning etc. that some aftermarket pipes cause within the car. It's not too loud and not too soft... just like goldie locks... it's just right

3- if you want to spend $1,000+ then you should forget about this modification. I had a system on order before I did this and once I heard this I canceled the order. And if you don't like the mod it's not like you invested big money. If you don't like your aftermarket kit... well that is big money

4- There is no compromise to the exhaust flow... remember this is at the mufflers .... right when the gasses are leaving....like the PSE

for me it's a no brainer... again if you don't like it then you've not invested much...
