On the Road Again
On the Road Again
I'm about to fly back to London tonight on the red-eye where my 997 C4S has been sitting for a good three months! I have an 800 mile trip ahead of me to the South of France which I plan to break almost midway in Burgundy tomorrow night. I can't begin to explain how unbearable this seperation has been, but that's the nature of my job I'm afraid. All I can tell you is that this forum has been the closest thing to being behind the wheel.
My question is what should I be doing before hitting the road and crossing the channel tomorrow morning given that the car has been sitting for so long. The car is in mint condition, serviced in Feb, and if this makes any difference it's an '07 997, X51, PCCB, LSD (permanent sport suspension) C4S.
Thanks

I would make sure there is enough oil, take it for a quick drive to make sure you have no flat spots on your tires, and make sure the car is running properly and if everything is working well, have a great drive!
Was the LSD an option, or was it installed after the car was delivered?

LSD comes automatically in Europe if you opt for the permanent sports suspension (no PASM). This is an option which the dealer was adamant that I shouldn't get, but I'm so glad that I went my own way on this one. My previous 996 was optioned similarly, but what sealed was the a day on the track in late 2006 in a 997 sport susp. The car actually handles London's streets fairly well, and is unbelievable on the open road.
Nice, in the first generation 997's NA spec cars didn't come with a LSD, it just wasn't available. I installed one in my car and love it, totally changed the behavior of the car on the track.
Enjoy that C4S of yours, sounds like you have earned a break!
