Off-Topic - Thoughts on a M45?
Sorry for the off-topic post guys. This is the only place I've posted/read for the last 2 years, so I kinda just want your guys' opinions. Hopefully I'm not breaking any rules.
Need an auto sedan, and I've been kicking around the idea of a M5, C63, E63, E55, etc....until someone recommended the Infiniti M45. I did some research and it seems very well equipped and sporty enough. Just curious if anyone on this forum has had/driven one...
Still miss my 997S dearly, but the S2K has been great during the summer. Need a sedan to haul the kids in a pinch. One that will complement a porsche well when I decide to upgrade the S2K again next year

I own a Acura MDX, and the thing I find with Japanese cars vs European is the Japanese are head and shoulders above when it comes to electronics. When it comes to feel in the road the European vehicles are more planted and the metal is thicker, and they are built with slightly more attention to detail.
Personally I would get a 5 series or E Class or A6/S6 before a Lexus/Infinity/Japanese.

My friend cross shopped an M45 and 550 a few years ago. He ended up w/ the M45 because he couldn't justify the price for the BMW w/ not much more performance (seat-of-the-pants-wise and not just whatever's listed on paper) and not much (if) better quality. And he makes way more money than me. Very good sound system, nice leather. The only advantage, then, would be that the BMW had a stick.
Although you won't impress the badge ****** everywhere, it's a really nice car. I got to drive it during all his wedding stuff.

Figure you can get a M45 for around 30 or less right now, it's hard to ignore. After the 997S, nothing really feels like sport to me (except the S2K), so I've lowered my expectations. For what a car might lack in driving dynamics, at this point, I'd like to make up with comfort and tech. ISF is another car I'm considering, but I barely fit in it and I don't think it's worth $20k more...
I've test driven the M45 ~ 1.5 yr ago while shopping for a sedan. The ergonomics and creature comforts are are well thought out. The sound insulation is on par with some of the other high end Euro sedans. The engine performance is brisk and smooth. It does not give you that aural sensation like a BMW, however. The ride is smooth and compliant. Taut when it needs to be; close to a 5 series, but not quite sporty.
Overall, very good value for the price. If you want something more raw, sporty, and quicker, the Infiniti G37 sedan is better for the price, IMO.

It's nice but boring and that's why it's priced where it is . It's not cheap either and I can't rationalize spending this much money for mediocrity .
If you don't want to spend the big bucks then save the money and buy a cheaper car altogether . I just don't see the sense to stretching the wallet for the car that's not "the one" . Save the money and at least have that satisfaction.
