I looked at one at a local dealer on Sat (Don Rosen). It was an Atlas Grey/black and loaded. Drove like a dream. Came back with a grin on my face from ear to ear. However, I did not get a DME report since the better half put the kibosh on the deal. I don't see a problem with owing a car that was used by Porsche as a PDE car. If the car is warrantied by Porsche for 100K miles, then what's the big deal? If something breaks, they'll fix it. Maybe ask for a new clutch, that seems reasonable. But that's me. I think for that car $59K is/was almost a steal. Probably a little more $$ on the table, but still a good deal IMO.

That is the car that I was originally looking at at Don Rosen (they had two). Then another popped up at Princeton Porsche. Princeton was the dealer that told me about the PDE and I had the DME run on that car. I am sure they all look about the same. BTW, the 100K warranty does NOT cover normal wear and tear nor abuse. So, just because they are warranting it doesn't mean it isn't going to cost you when it starts breaking.

When something sounds too good to be true... it probably is. I seriously considered purchasing this car from Princeton. That nagging uneasiness just wouldn't go away no matter how much I tried to convince myself that "Porsche would stand behind this car" if it developed any problems down the road. You are probably better off that you missed out.

But....if your heart is set on one of these....this looks like another one (it says it is a one owner car, but that owner was probably Porsche). I would bet this is a PDE car. All the same equipment.

Funny that this one they want $65 for when other dealers were selling at $59K. I'll make an offer and see what happens, tyvm everyone.

At the 65k point of entry, there are better cars out there. Effectively you will be the one holding the bag in the end. Anyone who would be the 3rd owner of that car would check the scan, come on this board and ask the question, most of us would reply WALK.

One thing many 6 speeders told me and I found out to be true, you can't say you plan/are going to keep the car forever, or even a long time. If you buy one Porsche, your going to buy another one at some point and probably sooner than you think. I sold mine after 10 months and am looking for a new one, I was shocked that I sold it, it was the car I told my wife "I'm keeping this forever!"

Why have that history hanging around your neck?

I think those prices are really high as well. Follow Larry's advice on other threads. I sampled a few dealers in my area because the 09's were making me greedy. He's not wrong, and if you are at the high 60's point, you could easily get a left over (new) 08. Might not have the brakes, but you could get everything else I think.

FWIW, Don Rosen just sold a brand new 09 Carrera (base model) with some nice options for around $68K. They also offered me that PDE car for $57K....

I would wait and find a car that wasn't abused as much.

I attended the Porsche Sport Driving School in August of 2007, a few months after I purchased my 997. The instructors bring students up to speed slowly over several days. There are always automatics (Tiptronics, now PDK's) available for those unable to drive manuals. The cars are well maintained on site (oil changes, inspections, brakes), and kept exceptionally clean.

Personally, I wouldn't have a problem buying one of these cars. I drive my own car much harder at DE's now that my driving skills have progressed.

And I guess these cars are a good argument if PCNA ever denies a warranty claim on my car for track use!!!!

I had the DME scan run on one just now and it showed multiple (734) Level 5 ignitions!! Wow, ugly.
