Let me wipe this grin off my face
Rockstar - I am falling in love with the PDK . I had no idea how I would feel but the car, price. options, and moment led me to give it a try . I am so glad i did.
Imagine this - You can shift the car (in manual mode) just like a manual but faster and more efficiently . It's not sloppy like a tiptronic . Instead it splices into the gear but instead of rowing your arm one presses a button . There's no need to release the gas while engaging it because its all computerized and it's even more accurate to boot.
Downshifting is also a finger tap and it clunks into the gear (also fast and precise) .
PLUS --sitting in boring traffic? No more pushing in the pedal . Place it in drive "normal' and it's a stop and go delight.
You want to jump off the line --Launch control . Check it out. Explained in this little video.

I love ot on the steering wheel and I really don't understand why so many auto journalist griped about the button format. Perhaps they jad been accustomed to Ferrari pasddles and thechange was too much for them. I find it easy as can be. You saw .. it took me one day and bam I love it.
I say -Unknown at this time .
Give me more time to have an answer . I'm still in the PDK honeymoon phase .
My prediction says that once the newness wears off, you'll find a stick more rewarding/involving. That not to say that PDK or any contemporary dual clutch trans is not more advanced hence faster. Time will tell.
I'm not so sure . That PDK is very complete and the way it just slams the driver into gear with eficiency is just astounding . Add to that its traffic auto mode it;s so complete as a vehicle.
Thanks Larry and congrats. I think the 997.2 took the white to an all new level, (it seems that Fla has the highest concentration of white 911s). You're comparative comments on PDK have been the most insightful. I'm curious though, do you think the 997.2 is still sufficiently "raw" or is the driver gradually getting detached?

Great question . Before I bought the PDK my opinion was that if a computer is doing the work the driver is somehow removed . In fact I was wrong. What occurs is that the driver now is faced with a different level of engagement . The driver is given the technology and now has choices of applying them. There are more combinations so the simplicity of the interaction is changed but the level of driver sophistication is challenged.
PDK is merely a tool . How the driver uses it remains in his hands .

I drove three different 997.2S's for extended test drives and was really impressed with the car(s). Two were PDK; one a cab, and one with SPASM. PDK is incredible to say the least, so is the new engine. I prefer a stick at the moment but maybe time will tell a different story.
Anyway, my only complaint was that the 997.2 felt a bit removed, mostly if not completely, because of the lack of intake, engine and exhaust noise. Granted none of the cars at the time had PSE so the exhaust could certainly be changed to something more musically satisfying.
I did later listen to a parked 997.2S with PSE and thought it sounded great. I have HEARD that the sound with PSE is still a bit muted at low revs. Larry, so you plan on doing an exhaust swap, either PSE or otherwise?

Glad you´re enjoying the PDK. I´m a manual fan, and placed the first order for a manual car, but after spending few hours driving the PDK car, I changed my order. It´s curious because I felt the same way you do, PDK gives a all new driving aproach, and I´m dieying to put my hands on my car car as soon as I receive it, in order to explore the PDK experience.
great buy! love the color combo; as you know i am biased to "white".
(wht tt cpe) white detailed to "concours" shine just looks so clean and elegant
you will love the painted seatbacks and center tunnel
deas it have PSE or are you going to mod? again congrats, stunning!
