Thanks . The seeat backs and console I am getting . Only time will tell what future phases of this car is but with my Turbo so modded I am keeping this one modest. For once I actually even like the stock wheels . Also I did consider damptronics but since its a daily and it goes up and down ramps not sure. Leaving it be for today.

If I do make a change I will post it after its completed with a write up.

Stunning car. Congrats. I was looking at the PDK but got a 09 stick. Kind of second guessing that decision after reading your posts! Hope the smile never wears off!

Larry, love the car...great color combo and great look.
I am also a PDK lover and I absolutely love the excitement, engagement and level of performance it offers...I had a feeling you would love it, reading your deliberations before you pulled the trigger. I just went to the Porsche Sport Driving School last week at Barber and actually requested a PDK, so I could get some advice and advanced lessons on getting the most out of it...wow, to say the least, these guys (including Hurley Haywood) showed me some great stuff and how this thing is supposed to be driven...it was interesting because they had us shifting in manual mode around the track, and the PDK pulled away from the manual cars on the straightaways, due to the gear ratio differences between the PDK and the manual transmission cars...funny....even my brother, a hard core manual transmission fan, bowed his head and agreed how much more he could concentrate on his line and less on his shifting...he drove better because of it. Needless to say, I am driving my PDK better now and can't wait to go back when they have PDK 911 Turbo's at the school...and Panameras!

The split second shift from first to second is astounding . Between the DFI immediate response and the quick PDL engagement along with the car's light weight it's just clicks so nicely .

I also drive manual mode most of the time unless in traffic or residential areas where I plunk it into normal auto and slow cruise .

Can you give us some pointers? I, too, am driving mine exclusively in manual mode now that the break-in period is behind me. I'd love to hear any tips you picked up.

Same here. After complaining about some of the auto mode quirkiness, I am really enjoying driving now in the manual mode. Auto mode was fine for the break-in, but now I wish I had started sooner... I find myself keeping it in manual even driving in stop and go traffic. No more quirkiness. I can't resist...

Same here unless it's gridlock traffic . I don't really care for the "auto" modes . I feel they are either too bland or too aggressive and much like an automatic it can not anticipate a sudden move . The manual mode offers the best all around . It's much faster at shifting than a manual transmission and more engaged than an automatic. It's the perfect blend of computerized technology and driver interraction .

Agreed...mostly the tips were when to shift...interestingly, all of the Sports Chrono cars had this feature disabled at the PSDS because they also wanted to limit the participants' ability to turn off the stability management, and therefore disabled the entire unit...so no sports plus modes on the Carrera S cars. The majority of the time we drove basic Carrera PDK cars in manual mode. I was amazed at how responsive they were...however once we switched to the S PDK cars, it was night and day...brakes were better, more torque, horsepower, better suspension setup, and overall a much better car for the track. The instructors actually showed us that they get a better time with the car in full auto mode, once the car had learned the aggressive driving they had done. I personally preferred manual mode since it was more engaging and I had more to do. Around the hairpin turn and the corkscrew corner it was so much fun to drop it down in to 2nd and hammer up through the gears, and also to downshift two or three gears just with the paddles. Lastly, my favorite item was how the PDK blips the throttle automatically...all the other guys with manuals were frustrated at their attempts to heel/toe downshift to blip the throttle, but with PDK it was done for you, so you could always get the correct engine speed and focus on your driving line and speed. Great fun. Incredible technology.
