Question Tech Question: Wind Whistle When Sunroof open or Tilted Up

Just started getting a wind whistle at 35 mph+ coming from the driver's window area near the mirror control area but it is not coming from the mirror (i'm familiar with that issue) you can only hear the whistle with the windows up and the roof open/tilted up. Had a similar problem with our '08 BMW and after many trips to the dealer they had to replace the entire door seal which finally fixed it. Anyone know if this is the same fix for the 997?

Here's a thread (see page 2) where someone else has/had the same issue. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...y-997-a-2.html

Appreciate any input.

Putting down the window completely changes the airflow around the mirror.
I suggest that you zip tie a plastic bag (like a ziplock freezer bag) around the mirror and go for a drive as usual. See if you still get the nosie.

Excellent suggestion CMOS! I was going to use painters tape to seal of the seams but if I still hear the noise with the bag then I'll seal off the door and window areas until it hopefully stops and then start peeling it away in certain areas and driving it until the spot can be identified.

Thanks again.

Just tried sealing off the mirror but it did not help. I am wondering if it's an A pillar air leak, but why do I only hear it only with the windows up and roof open? Gotta be some kind of pressurization thing???
