Cheers.

In the past, I've installed Dension gear in my Audi, Pioneer Nav/DVD units in my Golf GTI, numerous alarms and stereos on other peoples' cars, I have the tools and the aptitude, but enough was enough, someone else can do it.

Earlier today I had left a message with Sound In Motion in Allston, they are a dealer for Mobridge now. It turns out they had one in stock and I'm going there on Friday for the install. I've only had my car for ~3 months (& about 3k miles) - I was going mad without my iPod.

I am curious as to how good the Bluetooth is, the car is not exactly quiet. It does already have a Parrot Evolution Bluetooth kit in it which is OK, but nothing special.

So far so good. Derek and Jim at Sound In Motion (http://www.sound-in-motion.com/index.html) installed the system yesterday (great job guys!). It looks like they do some quality work there... I'm sure I'll be back. They have a 911 there with a GREAT sounding stereo in. They also cleaned up a previous attempt (by prior owner) to install a Parrot Evolution - all the sticky goop was removed and the headliner & A-pillar trim was all clipped back together properly. They also sprayed my (Massachusetts) FastLane toll transponder black - looks much better now.

The controls for the iPod side of the Mobridge are not exactly intuitive, but it gets the job done. The I had read the instructions online before buying, so it was not a surprise. Bluetooth side paired with my Blackberry Bold immediately and 'just worked'. I'm not a big talker on my mobile, but within 30 mins of leaving the install I had 3 calls. Everyone could understand me fine on the highway.

All in all, very happy with the Mobridge and the install. I recommend them both. I'd post a picture, but it all looks stock... and most of you have already seen the interior of a 911!

Note to self: delete the ABBA from my iPod before other people see it...

No freaking way.
It sits as number 1 in my list in both album list and artist lists and plays first when I change CD number. Who cares what those 'other people' think, anyway...

The only note I have - I am not sure if microphone gain is sufficient. My mic is on high left windshield corner and seems to be quite close to me, but it still sounds a bit distant to whomever I call. May be I should increase mic gain in mobridge to 5 or 6, did not yet have time to do that. Other than this - I am pretty pleased.

I just got mine installed too...but on the Cayenne instead.

I get that "System error: CD changer not available" message, but eventually it goes away.

While searching through music, is there any way to tell the unit NOT to play that song unless you actually select it?

Did any of you need to have the dealer "reflash" the PCM unit?

Also, how many contacts does your Mobridge download to the phonebook? It looks like there's a maximum number. Maybe around 99 or so? Is there any way to download more contacts to the PCM phonebook?

Thanks for all your input.

I think number of contacts is 199. Number is set by PCM limit, so you can check it in Porsche docs.
I am not sure if my unit plays a song before I select it, but i usually go over list of artists or albums and rarely choose an actual song

Mine was not the first, they had installed one before. They have more experience installing NavTV (but I did not want it) and high end custom audio installs, so I was confident my car was in good hands.

Their price was the same (or close to) two other quotes I had, but they were more convenient. It works out as the price of the device + 4 hours of labor.

No. My car already had the Porsche Sirius installed by the previous owner. I must say that it is deaf as a post though, the antenna is under the plastic by the windscreen wipers - but the reception is much worse than my other cars. It is forever cutting in and out, unless I am on the highway - clear of trees etc.

I honestly don`t know what is there to do for 4 hours. Install by itself at moderate speed should take 30-40 minutes top and most complex operation there is to glue velcro to mobridge box so it would fit properly into place where you want it to be.

The only part I do not like is how they organized iPod browsing - I used to choose genre first, then artist, then album.

Here I can choose either album name from multiple artists or artist without particular album. Seems like a complete non-sense to me but may be I did not figure out yet how to tune this thing up properly.
Curious how you did this- I have the same issue -tried the SD update - NO LUCK...really want this working again - I miss my BT and iPhone music.

that is one old thread.

i renamed all songs in albums to have an album name first and then a number.

so i choose an artist and then 'skip' to what i want to listen to. did not find a better way and got used to what it became,so, it works fine.

what 'SD' update did you try? mobridge units should not be updated from what I know - it may destroy BT in older models, new firmware is not 100% compartible.

You need to take it to a indie or dealer and get the CD changer turned off using the Piwis tool.

sometimes mobridge goes bananas and goes invisible, i then open trunk, disconnect ipod, disconnect cable from the unit, wait, and connect it all back.

also sometimes it 'locks' into some 'locked' mode where ipod content does not show up and disks 1-5 are gone, only disk 6 is showing but it plays if you push button on an ipod directly.
usually gets resolved if i disconnect ipod.

i think it may be due to some programming issues but too lazy to fix it. it works fione for the phone and plays music also fine 97% of time, so, why to bother...
