Most of the reviews I have read of the R8 (both the V8 and the limited ones of the V10) put it behind the 911's in terms of overall performance. I think the two cares have different purposes in life. To me, the 911 is more of a true sports car, while the R8 was designed to pull double duty as a sports luxury vehicle. So much of the R8 is designed for the sake of design, while a lot of what I see on the 911 follows function. I also don't like the fact that the interior of the R8, including radio, etc, came out of an A4 of 4 years ago. I'm also fairly convinced that in a few years, this car will look as the Lotus Esprit does now; forward thinking and very modern for the day, but quickly outdated due to it's bold design. The 911 on the other hand will still be in style 30 years from now, as they all retain the same basic shape and design.

If anyone wants the V10 or V8 version, my dealer has a couple of each sitting around on the lot unsold.

+2 I would have bought an F360 or possibly a 430 but I knew the potential for big repair bills. I wish Toyota or Nissan would partner with Pininfarina to design an exotic daily driver. I'm thinking of the Nissan GTR . . . but something that actually looks good. Yeah, I know, nothing in volume can be considered an exotic, but I'd trade a little exoticness for reliability and better daily driving manners.
