The 09 version of my favorite 05 launch car
The 09 version of my favorite 05 launch car
There has been much discussion about the 09 launch cars If I recall correctly they were a 1) white c2 , 2) green C2s , 3) meteor C4S , 4) Macadamia Targa .
When the 2005 black/black PCCB, sports adaptive seats , manual. full leather , nav 99,300 car is mentioned .. this car gets a lot of praise . I loved my 05 launch car.
So I looked to see if a modern version of a similar car to the 05 exists --and i found one !!!!!
This is the full monte of C2S coupe cars !!!!! Black/Black Ceramics. axle lock. sports adaptives . full leather, nav , all the current audio, PDK . man --oh man !!!!! WOW!!!!

Alan --the price is on the main page (approx 115) . The original laiunch was 99,300 in o5 but this one has PDK (extra) and added audio-ipod xm etc ) to the actual price increase is not bad in comparison.
Almost 16 grand for PDK and a iPod hook up, that is an average of 3% per year in price increase, seems high to me. For $115 I would be buying a slightly used 997GT3RS...but I really want a GT3
This is a fifferent type of car than the Gt3 . The Gt3 is more of a track car with occasional street use and this car is a street with occasional track use .
The thing which I liked is how it reminds me of the launch cars of 05 . These current launch cars are not quite the same .
The white C2 -Lacks SC
The green c2s -has nice options but it's green .
The meteor C4s is really nice but most who buy a C4S are not gearing up for sports bucket seats . Some will but many won't.
The macadania Targa -is just pure awful across the boad .No sport chrono , brown expensive -yuk.
Plus Porsche made 4 of each car per dealership except the targa literraly flooding the market with identical cars which make them a bargain in many ways.
I guess I just really liked the 05 launch and in revent times I saw a few forum members buy it .. so I looked.

Larry, I can tell by your posts that you will forever live in regret if you don't buy this car! Here is what I propose you do, talk them down to $86-90k, then work a deal to trade in your latest '09. You should be able to get mid 70's on the trade. You'll be out a small amount of cash, but you'll be happier in the long run! Do it sooner than later as every day you sit will cost you money!

Back in 2005 . I didn't want to sell my launch car . I had to sell it . I ended up buying three Porsches since then and the king of all my Porsches that I ever owned is my Turbo . I also did not want two black cars. My car also is getting mods as we speak .
You may wonder why I sold it . Here is the post I wrote a few days after I sold it on another forum 4 years ago. It explains why. http://forums.roadfly.com/forums/por...6718012-1.html

Wow, that sucks. I can't believe people would go after the lights like that. Guess that was when they were 'new' to the market. Some people are soo lame to put it kindly. My Mercedes constantly gets battered and after many body shop touch-ups I now just accept them. I'm afraid to park the Porsche anywhere!

This 2004 article from that time period explaining how bad it was . http://www.search-autoparts.com/sear.../detail/109550
So when I see the black/black launch cars I do think about my car. It was interesting to see that a new version has been specd similar to the 05.
nice car but expensive.. if i optioned a C2S anywhere above 105/110 i would look at GT3.. if i ever optioned out a N/A 911 above 130 i would look at a turbo..
i might be more comfortable in a 911 with 50k in options but just pointless sometimes to see 130k msrp cars that are just overkill x10.

This is certainly a very well spec'd car - $115k for a C2S is pretty high, obviously the PCCB's add $8k which is absolute overkill for this car, IMO.
From what I understand a lot of owners are switching to steel brakes after their PCCB's are done due to the exorbitant replacements costs. Who needs PCCB's for street use? Nobody.
If the dealer is willing take $15k off MSRP for this car, I'd say it's a good deal - otherwise, this thing is gonna sit on the lot for a long time.

With current discounts it places this car in the same range . Just a different economy.
There's two schools of thought :
1) Select options geared for function and value . Get the most out of each option .
2) rule out price entirely and spec the ideal car then hammer out the price .
I have sat in both camps with this and of course its a wrestling match between the emotional reasining of buying an expensive car vs the logic of how it applies to the wallet. Tough choice but .. this car looked very impressive to me.
