Wood...carbon fiber...leather?
Wood...carbon fiber...leather?
I'm considering getting my feet wet in the treacherous waters of mods and I have a question about mixing materials in the cabin.
My Guards Red cab has the gear lever trim and seat belts in the matching red color and I think it looks pretty smart with those items but the rest of the interior is vanilla Sand Beige. I really like carbon fiber but the wood accessories are attractive too. I'm thinking about adding some of both, as well as some leather pieces.
Has anyone seen (or own) a car with a mixture of these materials? I'm also considering getting the new Console Lid with Embossed Porsche Crest at Suncoast and leaning towards getting it in the red leather they offer but don't want to go overboard with too many textures/colors in the interior of the car.
Anyone have thoughts on this?

Seems like wood and carbon would clash. I really don't like wood in cars. Leather and metal are my favs - and with Sand Beige, not sure Carbon will look so good either. I'd have to see some photos of that to know what I think.
Don't get the red leather - too much going on.
You should post a photo of what your interior looks like now.

There is nothing more personal and subjective than modifications to the colors/textures/materials in the interior. For me your suggestions sound like it will all be rather busy (but I think black alcantara on black leather is adventurous) and rather, you should pick a single path and focus. But again, it's all yours and needs to be to your liking.
Pix would really help.

I've always thought that wood look particularly good with the tan interior. Problem is I am not a huge fan of the current selection of woods from Porsche as they are just not as rich looking as they used to be. But if I had to choose the Makasar would get my vote over Carbon or Silver with that interior. As for the leather console lid I love the one with the crest. A subtle upgrade that makes a big difference compared to the cheapo vinyl version. Have fun with the mods and remember it's your car, do what you want to.

What about having the rear center console painted red....and maybe the instrument surround as well. I don't think that having different matls. together such as wood and carbon fiber would be complimentary to each other.
Thanks for the input guys. I really appreciate it. Some of you are saying that mixing materials isn't a good idea. Question; stock cars from the factory arrive with "mixed materials" and look great (black plastic, brushed aluminum, chrome, leather, leatherette) - Why not add a couple carbon pieces and maybe a few wood items as well...and heck some painted accouterments for good measure?
Just wanting some ideas bounced around before I take the plunge. The add-on's cost quite a bit and it's so hard to tell without seeing pictures, let alone seeing how the end result will look once installed. The opinions from fellow owners helps the decision process. Thanks again fellas.

I agree with another post, the leather is a very natural color, so natural wood presents a nice compliment. You have a couple of dashes of red, so adding more is still going to be pretty dramatic, be careful where you use it. The center console in red with wood accents around might not be too much red and would be dressy.
Another +1 on the wood looking good with the beige interior. Although I really like carbon w/ the beige too. Check out the attached image for an example. Hard decision. I think wa1l1in said it best: "wood is 'dressy' and carbon is 'sporty.'" You will have to pick what fits your personality because either will look great IMO.
I am not fond of wood in any sports car . I like carbon but in moderation on beige . Looks amazing on sea blue in abundance.
1) I would get black mats to match the dials . Plus beige is hard to remain clean.
2) I would paint the console to exterior color (red) as it also matches the belts and gear trim which already is painted red on your car.
3) I would get the aluminum brake and PDK **** . https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ke-kits-3.html
4) I would get carbon illuminated door sills . It's not highly visible yet when one opens the door it lights up and adds a slight touch to the presentation.
These subtle hints will match and blend without being over the top .

Beige is more of a "natural" color, so I would stick with wood to keep up w/ the theme. Beige doesn't really work well when it comes to trim options. The red gear lever trim and seat belts might also make it a little harder to get a theme inside there.
Some Lexus cars have wood and plastic painted to look like aluminum. It's an awkward combination that makes me think the designers had no idea what the term "clash" means.

Try using the Porsche Car Configurator to play around with the interior materials. I can help with many of the factory pieces, some are best sourced from aftermarket vendors.
