Just got an '08 C2S...
Hi Folks,
I'm glad to be back in a P-car again. Had an '02 996 Carrera, sold it and got an '08 M5. Got bored of the M5...actually, really missed having a Carerra so I just got a used '08 C2S, blk/blk, 6-speed, sport chrono, hi end Bose, and about 3 years of warranty left. It had very low miles - only 4500 on the clock. I paid $64k for it from an authorized Porsche dealer. Do you think this was a good deal? I know prices have come down a lot and I just wanted to see what you guys think.
Thanks!

I think you got a good deal. I also got an 08 C2S. It also has a little more than 3 years of warrantee left. I paid $74,000 ( approx. 20K off the list) and the car had less than 100 miles on the car. Of course, the markets vary from region to region but I see many Carreras that have 15,000 or miles ( 2007, 2008) at the price you have paid.....Check out the offerings on Autotrader.

Black/Black is nice !!!
Congrats.
Thanks, guys. Yes, it's from the Auto Gallery. Great service...they took the car up to their Maserati/Ferrari dealership and had 2 guys spend 3 hours detailing it before delivery. Overall I'm quite happy and a 997S is something I see myself keeping for a long time.
Sounds like a fair deal. I paid about the same for a new '08 Cab (sticker $94 +) with 84 miles on it. They also CPO'd it for me and put on clear bra and windshield guard. Mine is kind of a stripper I suppose - only has Sport Chrono, Xenon, Bose, Power seats, and Carrera S wheels. Great for a daily driver. could have bought an S Cab with a correspondingly good deal but it didn't have power seat package or Sport Chrono. And I'm not taking this to the track, so I figured I'd save alittle jack and go basic.
hey that is the car I drove up to see at Auto Gallery, but ended up buying a silver one. It was the lowest priced 08 I've found around here. Congrats on the new purchase.

I liked the M5 but didn't "love" it. The SMG tranny is good at higher speeds but was too jerky around town. I was averaging 12mpg which, needless to say, was not good. Mine was fully loaded and I love all its features, but in the end, I really missed having a Carrera. The Carrera is just more fun to drive and also to look at
Congrats on the new car. I got my '08 997 C4S Cab this last spring with just under 7k miles as well and I think you got a fair deal. Interesting that it seems that it's been more difficult finding good low mileage cars in the last month or so compared to when I was looking back in April/May. If you find the right car with the right options and the PPI/DME checks out, probably worth it to jump on the car even if you have to give up a few $$$'s as some here on the boards have lost out on some good cars trying to save the last few dollars.
Congrats again and post up some pics.

Yeah. That what I suspected before confirming my order 2 years ago. I actually changed mind by looking at a thread like this one, entirely done for and by m5 and m6 owners. I was stunned at the nb of problems, repairs under warranty and complaigns about the range especially. BMW is a good example of how a car maker can let the perfect become the ennemy of the good. They've loaded some much electronic, complexity and cost that the cars are almost impossible to maintain.
Congrats luvawatch! Your car was one of my finalists when I was looking for my car a month or so ago. The only reason I decided against it was I didn't want black.
She sure is a beauty! Enjoy!

You captured it perfectly - the '...enemy of the good part' in particular. They really seemed to have lost their way. At least for performance car lovers. The mass, fuel consumption, Bangle styling, i-drive. I learned to drive a manual on a friends brand new 2002tii many years ago and it was a real thrill - establishing my preferences for car design way back then. But that part of the BMW family tree is long gone.
A buddy of mine who has a long family history of BMW ownership has been waiting to buy an M3 for the past year. He went down to drive the convertible and came back lamenting how heavy it felt (and was). And that even the coupe was unacceptably huge.
He's now looking at P-cars.
