2005 Carrera vs Carrera S

So I am bargin shopping for a 911 and I have to say that the later year 2005's are listed at a crazy low price. My question is while I always look at the Carrera S I found a silver\black 2005 non-S 6 speed no full leather, or chrono but with 11k miles it is listed at $39900 at a Porsche\Audi Dealer near me.

Question is should I hold out for the "S" and one with more options or go with a good price on the standard?

That IS a low price and nice mileage. Does it have xenons? You are really getting a lot of car for that money, just make sure you won't have S envy -- you have to ask yourself if you are going to miss the 30 extra horse 3.8, red calipers, and "S" badge. If you are, just spend the extra money now and get the S.

get the non S. Call softronics, get their software package, add a decent exhaust, and youre good to go.

...search a little and u can get some ideas of what people think about the non S vs S route.

Is this CPO'ed...and will it be a daily driver and will u ever track it?

Seems like a good price but more info is needed.

Not CPO'd, I wouldn't even know where to find a track.

I did forget the Xenon's are not standard on the non-S and looks like it does not have them.

Here is the link to the car

After seeing the pics I can tell you that it has the supple leather seats option, which was $395 if I remember correctly.

I might be selling mine soon for an investment property. I'm meeting with the broker tomorrow. Mine's a 2005 S with close to 27K miles. Interested?

After taking another look at the pics it appears that a button is missing (wires hanging) on the top roof controls I imagine for the sunroof or such..odd.

Thanks PM me with info on your car but may pull the trigger on some of these low priced ones near me

Its been in an accident. Which is not always a bad thing but at 40K you can do better.

Whoa, good spot. If it was minor, I would have said not the end of the world, but in a ditch... that could have been bad.

Came across this one on ebay similar price...more options (full leather, etc) I don't like the wheels as much. But now we are talking miles with 55k miles.

I just bought a 2005 911 S from Chicago area, car is full loaded with every possible option, in absolutely excellent condition and only 15,000 miles. Engine was replaced at 12,000 miles due to a inner shaft failure but has a Porsche warranty until July 2011. Ended up getting it for $44,500...so keep looking, there are good deals out there, just make sure you get it inspected by a Porsche dealer first...worth every cent in my opinion.

Good luck!

I believe you literally bought the car I wanted, and called just a bit late on. It was metallic gray, and in a Chicago suburb. I've been very depressed about losing out on it, as this was my "perfect" car. And, I've seen nothing else close in quality or price. Given what you got it for, I think I'm even more depressed now. I have to go and hide the live ammmunition now.

I picked up my first Porsche yesterday, a 2006 'S' 6-speed coupe. Good deals are out there --- mine was $49K with 9000 miles, quite a few options, and 13 months left on the factory warranty. I never even drove the standard Carrera, but the 'S' is already beyond all expectations. I knew when I found this car that I had to have it, so hopefully you'll feel the same when you find the right one. There was an immediate emotional bond that I couldn't resist!
