Bad and good experience with 2 dealers
my warranty is about to expire and there was a wired sound coming out of my engine and check engine light was ON. I thought about taking my car to stevinson imports where I usually take my car for service to see what is going on. One day after they called to tell me my car is ready to go.
I went there and was told that the check engine light was due to the missing gas cup ( somehow I lost mine
but that was way before the engine light ) and the noise is from my aftermarket exhaust system rather than that the car is good to go.
took my car to the track the following weekend and the noise became louder. everyone was telling me it is my lifter and they advised me to take it to different dealer and I did. The day after got a call from Prestige imports, the dealer I toke my car to, and they confirmed it's the lifter and the exhaust is fine and here is what was done to the car :
and here is the result from stevinson imports
I can't really understand how three different mechanics in the track was be able to figure out the problem and the dealer could not, even more they asked me to pay $125 for engine diagnostic
. Big thanks to Prestive Imports and special thanks to Dave. great guy to deal with
If i didn't have warranty I will end up paying at least $4k for a job like this so I'm really thinking about having my car CPO'ed and covered under porsche warranty.
I have been quoted for $3400 + parts need to be change. what you guys think?
I'm thinking about going back and show stevinson the report

BANK TWO FAULTY HYDRAULIC LIFTER 12.20 FOUND NOISE COMING FROM BANK TWO CYLINDER HEAD VALVE AREA. REMOVED ENGINE AND DISASSEMBLED BANK TWO CAMSHAFTS. FOUND CYLINDER 4 EXHAUST HYDRAULIC LIFTER CRACKED AND COMING APART. REMVOED AND REPLACED ALL 12 LIFTER FROM INTAKE AND CLEANED ENGINE AND REINSTALLED ENGINE INTO VEHICLE. TOPPED UP ALL FLUIDS AND BLED COOLING SYSTEM
MUFFLER AND CATS RECOMMEND TO CUSTOMER TO REPLACE. THESE ARE CAUSING THE NOISE THE CUSTOMER IS HEARING

How many miles are on your car?
It sounds like you should get your car CPO'd if that is indeed an option for you, but from what I have read that would mean selling your car back to the dealer and then buying it back from them which I doubt you would want to do.
Sounds like an extended warranty is what you would be looking into, there are 2 threads right now on the 1st page about them going on.

2 years/50k. I like the porsche warranty because it is factory but it is shorter and more expensive than after market
