I am still amazed at how planted the S is and how precise the steering is compared to Z. Now if I can only figure out this break in thing. Manual saying don't go over 4200 rpm first 2000 miles, that is torture. Especially in a car that doesn't really come alive down that low.
Congrats on the new ride! The Corvette is a really nice car but IMHO not built like a Porsche. It's not just about brute power all the time!

As far as the break-in thing, don't baby the car too much otherwise it will likely burn oil. On my 09 C2S I have been driving the car enthusiastically from day one after proper warm up. I have not used any oil as of yet. A lot of owners here believe in the theory of "drive it like you stole it" but I have taken a middle of the road approach which includes engine braking, heat cycling and constantly varying the rpm's utilizing 3/4 or the rev range.

Thanks I am definitely enjoying the Precision of the Porsche.

As for break-in, your advice would be once oil temp is sufficiently warm feel free to drive it aggressively, but keep it under 6000 rpm or so?

It is very confusing when owners manual tells you to not exceed 4200 rpm for first 2000 miles which kind of seems absurd. I do try to vary RPM's and definitely make sure car is properly warmed up. I want to drive it, but I don't want to ruin the car either. I figure most demo cars endure a good amount of full throttle accelerations. When I took a PDK and a 6 speed out by myself dealer did not say keep it under a certain RPM more like have fun. These cars seem none the worse for wear when sold and arguably are well broken in.

How about the brakes? So far mine seem to require a little more effort to stop than I am accustomed to. Not sure if unique to the S or just breaking in at 220 miles on the clock. Speaking of brakes what about the brake dust any product work easily at removing?

Thanks for your input.
