I just purchased a Targa 4S, 2007 fully optioned. The car is in perfect condition and has 7400 miles. Overall I am quite happy with the car but I am surprised by the amount of noise I hear from the front and rear of the glass roof. The front top sounds like constant "crackling" almost like paper is being rustled and the rear actually rattles. The dealer fixed it for a few days and the sounds came back. Are there any others experiencing the same issues? Also... I wonder if anyone can tell me how much of the retracting roof does not actually slide under the rear roof? I seem to have a solid 8 inches that sticks out from the rear roof. Is that normal?

I have a 07 T4S too. I have very few instances of noise from the top. Whenever I do, I just clean the rubber weatherstrip at the front and rear edges of the top with silicone spray on a rag. It usually stops almost instantly, or after a few minutes when surfaces re-seat. I have no rattles in my car (a daily driver).
Regarding the retracting top, I agree that it would be nice if it went back further, but have to assume that there is a physical reason why it can't go back more. My biggest problem with it is the way the sunshade retraction mechanism ends up parked in a manner that limits rear visibility in rear view mirror. But despite these minor issues, after 16 months I love the car more every week.
