No it's Ferrari-Maserati of Long Island. Have you heard anything about them?

Sorry, don't know them. There are plenty of Porsche dealers in the area though. I would be a bit surprised if they can do the DME scan in house, but anything is possible.

Oh, it is not possible to have a higher readout in an upper range than a record in one of the lower ranges, i.e. you can't have a 100 in range 3 and 20 in range 2. THe range recordings are cummulative as you pass through the upper rev ranges.

X51 packages on these cars are extremely rare. It is really a unique find.

I know one forum member who had a spotless DME . In fact if I recall correctly he retested it after he overreved and his level one was the first on the car with 8K miles.

What I don't like about the car you mention is an unwillingness of that dealership to disclose whatever info you request on that car . Plus its 3K miles away .

No bargain . You don;t have to travel 3K miles to face drama .

I am sorry I did not make it clear was that the Ferrari dealer drove the car to a local Porsche dealer nearby to do the DME. The dealership is Huntington Porsche said there was no way they were going to release the full report to me. I'm going to sleep on it and decide on what to do tomorrow. I'm leaning towards a no go. Thanks everyone for your inputs. I really appreciate it.

Don't pass on it yet . Your last post explains a lot . It sounds like they gave you the bare minimum . Perhaps they would rather you buy a car from them rather than enhance the sale for the Ferrari dealership .

You still woild have to see and drive the car . Plus there's shipping . this really adds up . I might see it if it were big savings or it wasn't far away .

I would never buy any car sight unseen .. especially a used car.

If we could of come to a deal my wife and I planning to travel to NYC and spend a few days there and of course really checking out the car before I hand over the check. Then have the car shipped back to Portland.

The car has a really funky rear spoiler. Does anyone recognize this spoiler? I don't think I have seen this before.

I looked at their website and from a better angle it looks like a Techart type 2 .

I agree with Larry, definitely looks like the TechArt Type II. Possible that the owner got all the speed equipment and the car was worshipped in the garage and not driven hard. Did you run the Carfax already? Seems odd that a car that looks so nice on the outside has extra wear on the inside. Funny, when I checked the website, I couldn't find the car. All depends on what you are really looking for in a car. This sounds like a very unique car. But that interior wear you described is a bit disconcerting.

Larry you are right. I asked the dealer to call the previous owner and he confirmed it is TechArt 2. I also learned that the owner installed a Fabspeed Exhaust. I understand the X51 comes standard with PSE. I love that sound. I never heard Fabspeed. Many things to think about.

The car looks pretty sweet actually. Interior doesn't really look to have any issues. If it really has the X51 package this is really a rare car with very low mileage. It will be worth quite a premium. People talked about simply selling their 997 S and buying a 997.2 instead of spending the $15k to upgrade the 997.1. Well, you have a hard time finding a 997.2 for $75k. Here, you would have a $15k upgrade package on a one owner car for a lot less than the premium over an '07 S.
Given the odd choice of wing without any front spoiler, I would be wary of any bodywork. Also looks like a bit of soot on the driver's side exhaust. Can be an indication of engine issues. There is quite a bit of warranty left, so engine issues should be less of a concern, especially with the clean DME.
Good luck!

Ryem3 you offer great insight. Thank you. I could make the sale contignent upon a clean PPI and re run the DME at another Porsche dealership nearby. And of course while they are doing this they can give me the printout the options the car has to make sure it is a true X51.

Great info on this thread guys. I had driven a 997tt a dealer temporarily had on his lot. He told me that it had some stage 4 over-revs so they weren't going to buy it. I wasn't sure what that really meant but now I do!
