Question 09 cayman 2.9 or 05/06 997 CS?

Hiya guys!

I'm debating on these two cars. 2009 cayman 2.9pdk with sports plus with 2200 miles with 3.5 local authorized porsche warranty on it. 05/06 997 CS tiptronic with 30000 miles on it and fully equipped but it's water parallel from states/german with absolute no warranty. First off I really dislike tiptronic. I think the 5 speed is a joke, it's slow and not responsive. I gotta say it's a 911 and it's got 90hp over the 2.9 cayman. Why am I comparing these two porsches? the price is similar. About 95k usd here in HK. What would you choose and why?

02 996 C2 tiptronic
06 Cayman S tiptronic
08 320i steptronic I lived with this for four months here in HK.

I want a porsche back again. But which? hmmmmm

I would go Cayman PDK. Though the 997 is more prestigious the miles and tiptronic make it boring (not to offend any tip owners) and possibly problematic. The new Cayman with PDK will be fun and exciting to drive.

There is a 05 carrera S stick with about 28000miles on it nicely equipped but then again, no warranty. I am thinking to get a G37S 7sp auto so it doesn't hurt my wallet that much. I don't know I am all over the place.

The real question is what are the roads like where you are and how do you intend on using the car? You have that nasty import tax to deal with and I feel your pain. My buddy in Singapore just paid $150K for a convertible A4! No thank you. Don't know how you guys do it.

This is what we gotta pay over here in asia. The roads are pretty messed up. I use the car for enjoyment, pimping, etc. Definitely not for commute.

if you're worried at all about costs of ownership get the one with the warranty.

So you are thinking to drop $95K on a car you don't like. Where's the question here?

Do you need to buy either one of them - now? Or is that as good as the choices are likely to ever be?

I'm trying to ignore the whole crazy pricing and just pretend it's two cars selling for 50K (or whatever they'd go for here). No, that doesn't' help me. Do you want a 911? If you do and you get the Cayman, then at some point when you course correct - ouch - even more costly. And if you don't want TIP and get it and aren't happy - same problem.

Why am I comparing these two porsches?
Exactly.

I'd say keep the bimmer and keep shopping.

When in doubt don't buy anything. It doesn't sound like either are "the one" . Why not simply wait ? This way when you spend the money it will be on the right car.

ShenZhen is kinda funny, It's got good and bad combined. Nice How long you staying here? Oh damn tiptronic. How is your 09pdk? how much is it in Taiwan? I think Taiwan's a little bit more expensive here than HK. like 15% more compare here.

09 pdk pretty good but stalled twice goin up a hill, i think the quick shift change caused that because i had to stop right on top of the hill.

Unless you have a special reason for it, never ever buy a tip.
