Interesting - do I understand right if that 'seven-speed dual-clutch transmission' is essentially 997.2 PDK?

The 7 speed DSG with wet clutches fom VW is used only on lower hp/torque engines. The 6 speed with dry clutches is used on teh higher hp/torque engines. It is not the same as the PDK trans but the designs are quite similar and the concept, the same.

VW pioneered DSG. I believe they were marketing DCT's long before anyone else.

Correct, VW and AUDI used it with the name of DSG

After 1 year or so, AUDI put the name S-Tronic in order to differentiate it from VW
