Favorite seats?

I spent a bit of time at a dealer looking at the C4S. I wanted to get a good look at some of the options like seats, interior finishes, leather and exterior colors.

I sat in 3 different seats: standard, power, and sport. I liked the sport seat fit the best but since they didn't have the adaptive seats I don't know how that would fit. Could someone that has the adaptives chime in how they compare to sport seat?

My wife and I also saw full leather in tan and black and that simply looks stunning but obviously does nothing for performance but nontheless, the eye candy would be very nice when driving it.

I kind of lost track of which seat come with the silver plastic back. What exterior color does this seat back color match closest?

They had an 09 C4S with PDK that was new that had a carbon fiber wheel. No mention on the sticker except for heated wheel and indeed it had the button. The sales guy thought that maybe the wheel that was ordered automatically comes in CF. Can anyone chime in on this? It looked great on the black on black car but seemd like an anomaly.

So after all the looking around, I think that I decided on the following: meteor, black with deviating stitching, Bose, nav, sport chrono, heated seats, heated steering wheel, armrest logo and crest in headrests. Possibly black painted rear console if we decided to go with black/beige interior and then no deviating stitching unless someone has a great idea for the 2 tone interior.

Thanks in advance for the commnetary.

There's no diff between the regular seats or the comfort power seats as far as seat shape is concerned except lumbar support.

The (***) adaptive power seat with its settings in the mid-range feels like a normal sports seat.

The sports seat standard back is plastic (painted in vulcan gray). It is available in custom paint or covered with leather.

I believe the non adaptive seats do not have power controls for the lower thigh supports or the side supports. The adaptive seats have power controls that move both in or out. Plus there is the power lumber support bladder. The only time I've seen the sport seats they were manual - not sure if they come in power. I wouldn't own them if they didn't have power, no way to adjust them while driving.
I've found the sport seats are very narrow on the bottom. I'm not a big guy so it's not a problem, but even I find them a bit squeezing at times. And I leave the bolsters adjusted all the way open. As mentioned, the sport seats have the dark grey plastic backs that can be painted.
Most people feel that the full leather interior costs a mint, but is worth having in the end. 3 years old, my car still has a very rich leather smell to the interior.

The manual sports seats are manual, except back tilt. The manual controls are back-to-front and height. I like manual seats as they fit me well and they are light.

I occasionally like to shift the seat position while I'm driving, particularly on longer runs to reduce fatigue. Really hard to do with manual seats. But indeed you are right - I'm sure the manual ones save a few pounds. The sport seats are a great choice either way and they really distinguish your car from others.

Thanks for the info. Where would be a good place to find out the weights of the seats, more for curiosity.

RyeM3, your 997 is very similar to what I would spec out or buy CPO'd if it came along. The full leather was very nice to look at. If you don't mind me asking, how much of the leather options did you check off. It seems like the dash, PCM trim and door are leather. What else comes with "full leather" without getting the options like overhead console, ignition trim?

Is it possible to add the door sills and other goodies after the fact?

Thanks again.

tguerino is infamous around these parts
Adaptive Sport Seats....

Adaptive Sport Seats are phenomenal. They are wider at the shoulder area and offer a truly custom fit. The regular seats feel too narrow for me since they fit between my should blades and are not very comfortable. The moment I sat in the A.S.S. I found great comfort!

Since you asked about a natural leather interior... I have a car coming soon with a full natural leather interior, sports seats, seat backs in leather, rear console in leather, PDK surround in leather and console cover w/ crest so that there is a continuous stitch line in the console from the front to the rear. I did not care for speaker grill or ignition key trim and the like, sun visors or roof liner.
I did not order Bose or nav or motorized seats, as I do not need those and preferred to save weight. The *** seats should weigh 50/60lbs more than the manual sport seats.

Many of the leather bits can be added later at a high price for most items.

I have the manual sport seats and I like them alot. I will say though in the beginning they can be a tad tight around the shoulders. I am a 44" chest and it took some getting used to them in the beginning as they push your arms forward to a good driving position. They are the lightest seats out there I believe as there is minimum padding on these seats and I would be interested to see how much lighter the GT2 seats are over the plain jane manual sport seats.

Adias is there really that much of a difference in the seat weight??

If so I am even more thrilled I bought the manual sport seats.
