Center exit exhaust tips

Hey guys, I'm in the market for a new exhaust and I'm also planning on doing the gt3 rear on my c2s and instead of going GMG's route and spending 6k on bumper and exhaust I was going to have a buddy of mine who owns a shop and does fabricating do some piping for the center exit. Now my question for you guys is for those who have done the center exit have you guys used a specific brand for the tips of the exhaust? Whats the best way about going through with this? What will I need to do about mufflers? Sorry new to the Porsche game so bear with me.

I have GMG's center exit. It uses what are essentially AWE mufflers and HJS cats. The tips are made by GMG as are the headers. I think your biggest problem is going to be fabbing up the headers and fabbing up the exhaust routing. Its a very tight fit! Good luck!

Thanks for the quick response man. I would love to do the GMG setup as I think it sounds amazing, I just cant see spending 6k for the bumper and exhaust plus paint.

Yeah its a lot but here is a little break down.

OE GT3 rear bumper is going to be about $1500 not including the heat shield and exhaust bevel.

GMG offers their exhaust with a CF/Kevlar cup rear bumper which, if you buy the whole system, you are getting for much less than the OE version.

I decided to go the OE route.

Good paint work is going to be around $500-800 unless you know a guy. Trust me you want quality work here, the water based paint Porsche uses is hard to get just right.

So you are already at $2000-2500 and have not even bought mufflers, headers, or cats yet.

A good set of Cats is going to be around $1000. Muffers can be had for much cheaper but if you want a muffler designed for a 997 then you are talking another $1000. So now you are at $4000-4500.

Doing the center exit is very easy if you remove the cats from the system but it will be quite loud. Of course, you might like it loud.

I believe member V35 did his own custom setup at first. I believe he uses FVD's version.

The following companies make full center exit systems,

FVD
GMG
Fabspeed

Also keep in mind a full AWE system, for example, that includes cats, headers, and mufflers is going to cost $4500 not including the install.

But keep us informed of what you decide to do!

Misanors4, if you want a center exit exhaust tip without braking the bank, we offer outlet extension pipes with large 4.0" polished tips which bolt directly to the stock mufflers. You need aftermarket sportcats for this system to work because of clearence issues. Here is a picture of the system installed on a 2005 997 'S'. Notice the long 90 degree bends coming from the mufflers to the tips. That is the only section you need combined with an aftermarket catalytic converter to achieve the GT3 style.

The second picture is our complete exhaust system with outlet extensions installed for any 996-997 Carrera. The outlet extensions are $1,395 and include V-Band clamps to attach to the stock muffler.
