Active Exhaust

As far as I'm concerned, two of my 997's both have PSE but I still don't feel like the car sits like a centerfold without having a good sound to it.

Just like the Aston's or Gallardo's, can't Porsches have a proper active exhaust system? Well it maybe they do have them with the valves open up when the sports button on, the growl on the overrun, but its not the same system with the other exotics.

Maybe I'm so wrong with so many things on this thread but don't you guys/girls feel the same about this?

This may be a good reason why I've been looking for a proper full exhaust system for some time now, Tubi is too pricey, Cargraphic and Borla sound great, don't have any experience with Supersprint and a definite no to muffler bypass although a new set of Fabspeed mufflers sound good.
What do you guys reckon about a possible active exhaust production? Cheers.

I believe Capristo exhaust systems can be programmed active and there is a Japanese manufacturer with an active system that could be programmed to open at a certain rpm but I can't remember the name:

mike87, I'm a Porsche fan for sure, I currently have a '07 Cayenne in black, beige interior, an 07 C2S black, with black lobster wheels, and my DD '07 guards red, with black sports wheels, red dials, etc. Its gotten a real kick in the front, the stones from the road because I do drive it everywhere and everyday so the rain must have done the stone chipped my front bumper, the hood and the front lights plastic covers.

I have never heard of the adjustable Capristo exhaust system, I will get in touch with them tomorrow for sure. I'm quite curious about the price though.

It was a GT3 RS in that video though, they are basically a different kind of beast from a C2S. And they dont have a video for a C2S so I will update this thread when I hear from them.

Thanks ntlgnt1!

Capristo stuff is nice and has the valves, but gives it a totally different sound. Much higher pitched. I believe it's also currently only made for the 987 platform.

On Capristo.de, they do not show any link for a 997, so they must only do that for the 987, you are right. I got your pm, will reply now.

Do you mean the same Active as the well known BMW Tuner ? Do they make a Porsche exhaust?

Bummer I thought they had one. I'll keep racking my brain to see if I can find that Japanese one...

Not sure if it's the one you're looking for but Kreissieg makes an Active Exhaust for the first gen 997's. It's $6500 for the two mufflers alone though - Complete overkill IMHO - By the time you add the cats and headers the retail on the complete exhaust it $12,000!!!

For the money I'll take Fabspeed mufflers with a set of By-Pass pipes and V-Band clamps to throw on when I want it loud.

Yes, I believe that is the one.

EDIT: Researching this further I don't see that it's programmable or active though just switchable like PSE

Really? Well you are right, if it costs that much, I'm sure I will not be the only one who declines this invitation to an adjustable exhaust system. I have PSE on two of my cars, but I find the sound not as sporty as I'd like. I've driven the Murcielago and F430, I guess deep inside, I'm after exotics sounds but Porsche has it own way and we all have to take it as they are, or ? Just kidding. Mod away people!
