Best Tires (for the price?) for 997

I am shopping for new tires for my 05 997S: front 235/35/19 and rear 305/30/19. My original thought was to go with the OEM Michelin PS2. But, the price differential is so great (more than double) that I am having second thoughts.

www.discounttiredirect.com
Micheline PS2 305/30/19 sells for $532
Yokohama ADVAN Sport $420
Nitto Invos $298
Hankook Ventus $220

Can people chime in reviews of different tires and sizes?

Thanks.

I just went thru the same process and stuck with the PS2 in the end. Why mess with success? The others you will always compare to the PS2's over time and will eventually regret cheaping out. Bite the bullet like the rest of us. Try to read reviews on tire rack about the others and you'll see (handling, noisy, bad in rain, ect)

There is a reason PS2's are stock (and are better the the Pirelli IMO)

Good luck

If you do not want to pay the price for the Michelins go with the OEM Bridgestones. They are great tires as well and on the street I do not think you will notice a performance difference.

I was extremely happy with Michelin PS (?or PS2) on my previous daily driver, BMW 325i, especially because they lasted 35k+ miles/2-3 years that the price differential was not a big issue.

From reading many posts here, I anticipate needing to change the rear tires every 10-15K miles or every year. Therefore, I feel more incline to try something else that is not as expensive, but still performs very well. Even if I don't like them as much as PS2, I will only be stuck using them for 1 year.

Sounds like Nitto Invos are getting very positive reviews from a few members here.

Thanks.

Never been a particular fan of the PS2, had them on my 2007 and wasn't too impressed. I'm thinking about the new Bridgestone RE-11 when my current tires (P Zero) are due for replacement.

I used Toyo R888, very sticky on track but super noisy on the road. I just put on Yokohama AD08 and drove 15 kms only, very quiet compare to R888 - and slightly cheaper than R888. Tried Kankook & Kumo before, very sticky but need replacement after 5-6,000 kms !

Got a set of the 'Kooks ready to go on once Forgestar pulls their head out of their azz and finishes up my wheels (now one month later than promised).

Reviews have been phenominal on the tire, and the price, well, need I say more?

Although it'll be awhile until I'm in the market for a new set of tires, found the vid interesting.

Thanx for posting.
