I'm on my 4th black car (3 were BMWs) and it remains my favorite color. It does take more work, but when clean, IMHO it's the prettiest. I like white probably second behind black, but no offense to anyone, I personally think white is a more feminine color. However, I did once own a white Corvette and many commented that it was a feminine color car for man. As someone wrote, you need to keep after your car regardless of color as the environment and birds and such can damage your paint. Having a black car just makes you do the work, but it's worth it to me.
A California duster....spray detail before and after each drive.....takes little time and keeps the car looking good. All my cars have been black. I don't mind the work at all......if you call it that.

Black cars will be illegal in California in 2012. This state is getting hard to live in.

FWIW, I think the 997, any form, looks stunning in black. Everything else is a distant second.
However, the Cayman does NOT look good in black. It is stunning in white, imho (red too is great).

The key to keeping up with a black car is to apply as many layers of wax as possible. I have waxed my car 5 times since mid Oct. when I took delivery. Mine is a daily driver. It also helps that it is garaged.
5 times? wow.... I have waxed mine once since August
. Not a DD and only comes out on fair day's. In fact, since I spray detail it before and after I take it out, I've only washed it twice in the last 6 mos.....and it looks good. Garaged and covered. I hit the HRE's once a week to remove brake dust etc..
If you buy a black car with the idea that it's going to be a pain to keep up..,,it will be.. so don't buy it. However, if a little TLC every now and then doesn't bother you.....you'll be good to go. It's all relative. I take care of all my cars the same way regardless of color......including my Black 3/4 ton Duramax
, Maroon Saab 9.3 and White Range Rover.
