Carbon Fiber: explain the draw, bcs I don't get it

I know it's lighter, and the weave looks cool, but I just don't see the draw. Of course, for the money, it's a ridiculous expense, but so are many things we buy, so it's not JUST the money. On a racecar, I can appreciate the fact that saving X lbs is worth 10,000X. But I don't get it on our cars.

My question is: What do y'all love about it?

i love it in the engine bay. I don't like it in the interior on many car colors with a few exceptions.

Its not something you see regularly unless you are a CF lover and have it all over. Its unique enough to have general appeal for some. I guess its a nice change instead of leather, wood or stainless if you like the look.

There have been some photos of large CF replacement parts that have complex curves and to get it right with the weave it take s alot of artistry.

I like it for the beauty and complexity.

The weave provides some 'texture' compared to flat looking leather and plastic, reflects light in subtle ways. Not really about weight savings unless you're replacing entire body panels, but it's just very aesthetically pleasing to me.

Especially in the bay of a CGT. Saw two recently up close and it was amazing.

I like it without the exaggeration... A couple of pieces on the interior adds a little flash. It looks sportier than Wood, and Aluminum! On a black interior if you put too much CF it looks too dark and over-whelming.

I have CF mirror inserts on my car, I think it looks great

I'm not really a big fan either, but variety is the spice of life. I could see having it on a car once. It mixes things up a bit. And I agree with the engine bay comments - looks very cool if done tastefully!

DaveC is infamous around these parts
Interior CF is decorative, like full leather, or the Porsche emblem embossed on the headrest. Those items serve no function either but many people order them. It's expensive but so is the car. Some people don't get why anyone would pay $100K for a car. There's no right or wrong unless you are a person who believes only he and those who agree w/ him possess the knowledge of what's good and right.

It all depends on the person, it is your car and it should reflect your taste My friends called me crazy for spending $13k modding the car... And it is just visual!

Hey Cattman, it's like everything in life:
Asian girls: explain the draw, bcs I don't get it!
Wood floors: explain the draw, bcs I don't get it!
Designer jeans: explain the draw, bcs I don't get it!
Glocks: explain the draw, bcs I don't get it!

At the end, it's just about taste. The list can go forever! LOL!
Me? I love carbon fiber.

There's lightweight carbon and cosmetic carbon. I love both.

You can definitely feel the weight savings of carbon on the street or track.

Interior= pretty, especially compared to plastic.

Carbon Fiber and Alcantera

The infinite possible combinations of carbon fiber and Alcantera options allowed me to configure my interior with virtually no leather at all. This allows me to have a high performance sports car without compromising my ethics, not to mention I just don't like leather. I love the Alcantera on my steering wheel, seat inserts, console, gearshift, and brake handle. The CF compliments the black interior on the door cargo lid and door handle and in the dash trim. Hope that's not TMI, but you asked.

The cool looks, the draw at something race like or race parts are some draw's. The lightness, everyone wants to be in a race car or own one; so the carbon fiber parts get's you just a little bit closer
