Question about Cab Side Window

Hi. I have a question regarding the side windows in my '07 C4S Cab. I'm familiar with the side windows' slight drop when opening to door. What I find "odd" is that when I get into the car by myself, occassionaly when I turn the ignition key I can hear passenger window adjust slightly. It only seems to be the passenger window and only if someone has not open/closed the passenger door. But it's not all the time. Any insight?

Unlock your car - Both windows drop ~ 1/8 in.

Open a door - that window drops ~1/2 in. to clear the rubber molding.

Close the door - that window fully closes.

Start the car - any window on a door that was not opened/entered/closed now fully closes (this is typically the passenger window when you are alone).

Why - who knows? Some engineer at PAG maybe.

My guess would be allow the air to escape,so you can close the door gently instead of needing to slam it shut....!
But this is a guess at best!

Intresting, I knew the window on the open door comes down a bit, but didnt know they both drop when you unlock the car

Thanks! I was only familiar with the windows going down slightly when opening a door and then back up when closing it.

Crazy engineering ... of course I remember dreading my first car that had basic power windows as being "another electrical gimmick that will break"

I think the window features are pretty neat...but if there is an intermittance...it might be a sensor of some sort.

I had a loose inside doorhandle (driver's side) which affected the sensor on the window (05 cab S): When I would close the door..sometimes it would seal completely against the cabrio top...and sometimes it wouldn't. I also noticed it would move a little (also intermittantly) when I put the key in the ignition.

When I had the inside doorhandle replaced, the intermittant window problem went away.

The P-service guy told me he's seen this on a few 997's...He suggested it might be an issue where people 'overuse' or abuse the doorhandles with that double-action to unlock, then get out of the car. After paying for a new doorhandle, I'm already in the habit of using the center lock button.
