CPO vs Easy Care: Which one is better?

Hi! I'm in the process of upgrading to a 05 997 C2. I've read about the IMS failure on the 05MY, and I'd much rather pay upfront to ensure my car is working than have an unexpected hemorrhage of cash. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons for each of the warranties? It seems to me like an Easy Care warranty offers all the benefits of CPO -- without the dealer premium on the price of the car.

Thanks!

Search this forum for warranties or CPO or Easycare and you'll have a month worth of reading and controversy. Be forewarned; a CPO 2005 is going to be difficult to find and purchasing Easycare (best of the aftermarket, in my opinion) is not going to be cheap on a 2005.

CPO vehicles purchased from Porsche NA after Aug 2008 acts like the complete full car warranty from the manufacturer. Prior to August 2008, the CPO warranty was considered a limited warranty. I am unsure of EasyCare's terms. I'd personally go with the PCNA's CPO as there should not be any hassles obtaining services.

When the Porsche factory warrantee on my '05 C2S expired I bought EasyCare from my Porsche Dealer, and it's been great on the 2 claims I've made. They have many options available (choose your deductible, choose your term, choose your coverage), and since the dealer sold it they have leverage on claims. No complaints, and great peace of mind.

I read about a dozen of the posts before writing this one -- I couldn't find one that directly compared these two warranties. I was looking at an 05 C2 with PPO for $40 and one without for $37. I found out the CPO car sold today so it looks like my mind is made up for me. Thanks everyone for the help!

++1: same story from me. I'm not lobbying for easycare, but they have a relatively solid insurance company behind them which is important. I too have read those "horror stories", but about companies like US Fidelis, not easycare. BTW, there are reports from people not ecstatic about CPO either.

Speak to the Service Manager of your local dealer. Mine says that their dealing with Easycare have been great. No hassles.
