Petty annoyance
Mine does the same thing. The dealer replaced the whole head unit, under warrantee, but it made no difference. It continues to do this. I just adjust it each week or so. Would love to find a more elegant solution.

I've had my head unit replaced as well under warranty, still does it. Kinda dumb if you ask me, you buy a $100K+ car and the clock can't hold time. Is this something that has been remedied on the 997.2's?
Here's a really dumb answer. My 06 does the same thing, but this past Summer I left it in Florida for 4 months on a battery maintainer and it did not lose a second.

You know, given the issues with batteries in these cars not staying fully charged unless you drive the car regularly it wouldn't be all that surprising if the issue were one of voltage to the PCM unit being a tad too low. I wounder if the common denominator here is cars that aren't driven every day. Given that a clock is not very high tech I can't imagine it being a function of the clock itself. Could also be a function of the way the clock is wired into the PCM being a cause of a current drain, IE.... the PCM, or better put the alarm system, using more than it's share of juice while the car is parked.
Are the clocks in cars with PCM updated via the GPS? I've noticed this happening after a battery disconnect where it defaults to the 12:00, and then will auto update after some time - my guess that it was always pulling this data from the GPS as my hand helds do.
