4 year old C2S....

Looking for my first Porsche. Local dealer just took in a 2006 model year C2S purchased in 10-05. Has 36,500 miles and they have done all the service. Not in love with the exterior color but otherwise it is perfectly equipped for me. They will CPO it which buys me 2 years as the original warranty is done.

I have searched and read many threads here and learned alot especially about the big problems which it seems like the 2006 is mostly beyond but would appreciate folks thoughts/advice...I have some anxiety about the miles and the fact that in 2 years I'll be out of the warranty...I'd look at the service records etc but am wondering if a pre purchase inspection would really predict what might happen in 3 or 4 years.....is it reasonable to expect another 4-5 years and 40 to 50 k miles without spending a fortune?

Congrats, almost. A PPI would tell you about any DME mods, the DME scan would tell you about overrevs, which will tell you about extra engine wear, and the should scan the paint to see if there was any bodywork. I presume you've already seen the carfax to know if the car had 3 owners that never really took car of the car or if there were any accidents. Even with the CPO, the car has a few more miles than most '06's on the market, so you will reckon with a fairly high mileage car in a few years. The PPI will also inspect brakes and tires, etc. "They have done all the service" - the car will have a major service at 40k, it isn't due for that yet, but have they done it? All things to consider. Everything checks out = welcome to the club!

My 06 is bullet proof! I drive it hard and treat it to the recommended service and it keeps
asking for more. No warranty claims to date, so you might be OK with the milage.

I suggest buying the colour you want, there are lots of cars available.

With proper service, these cars are very easily maintained, and much of the maintenance is still DIY if you like that sort of thing. 36k miles is nothing. I am in an '05 C2S with 43k miles, my daily driver, it's HEAVILY modified, and runs like a dream. There are many solid after-market warrantees available for once your CPO runs out.

However, don't get a color you don't like, period. You'll regret it. The one you want, in the color you want, is just around the corner- be patient.

I wouldn't be concerned with the mileage if the price is right, the 06's seem to be just fine for the majority and if it's been properly maintained there's no reason not to jump in with both feet, however I completely agree on holding out to get exactly what you want. It's a buyer's market at the moment and you'll be the one opening the garage door everyday. Get the one the makes you grin the biggest. Good luck with your search.
