Single quick red lining on a dyno will not do much damage to gearbox and cylinders. consistent daily abuse from , say, 'launch control' rocket start with completely cold brand new engine will finish your cylinders walls within a month.

Again, best way to break in new engine is to take it on a highway and drive it for 3-4 hours non stop on regular 2-3K rpm. It is fun to do in new car anyway, you do it so for couple of weekends, get first 1000 miles on it and after that it is pretty much all set to take any abuse just fine after that initial smoothing of rings edges. Why folks put so much fuss over this simple thing is beyond me.

I agree, I appreciate the vehicle's engineering of construction now, too! However, I wonder if the speed of assembly (some are limited to 2 min 35 seconds) could possibly be be the genesis of my rattles! I was looking at Hanz and Franz as they were bolting or clipping things in, wondering if they might be the ones to blame for this rattle or that!

I suspect they drive them some more than just the dyno test. I imagine there is a water test and a rattle test that they did not show.

when they pulled the wing out of the box was very nice, I did not know these cars were hand painted still. Did it seem like there was a mix of cars going down the line? I swear I saw a gt3 followed by a c2

I am not so sure about that. Once the car gets started and driven even on the initial dyno, it's fully assembled, so they can't at that point re-set the mileage. Most cars arrive with about 7-12 miles on them. That's surely more than driving to a transport vehicle, off that and into a container, off the container and onto another truck, then off and on a few more times, but it's not a lot.

As for rattle testing- no way, doesn't exist. Maybe at Lexus.

From what I can tell via my own 2 Porsche 911 ownership experiences, and that of other owners spanning decades all the way back to the first iteration of this line, there is no rattle-elimination station. If anything, there's a disgruntled employee who ADDS a rattle here or there! Some even call the rattles the "Ghost of Ferdinand Porsche", they're so much a part of the experience, sadly. And of course it seems that those who have no rattles are the most vocal about rubbing it in!
