Porsche on Ultimate Factories, on right now!
Ha - I almost go run over by one of those carts when I took a factory tour in Stuttgart a few years back.
Some cool notes:
-Full leather interior take FIVE hides!
-It takes a master craftsman over an hour to stretch and glue the leather to the dashboard.
-A factory paint department employee requires THREE YEARS of apprentice training before before being allowed to paint a car body.
-500 flat six engines are made per day, in over 20 variants.
-Each finished vehicle gets 5 gallons of gasoline.
-Each finished vehicle gets dyno tested.

Great show - made me think that my 911 had once crossed that bridge a couple of years ago....
Made me also want that Powder Blue GT3 - when they pulled the GT3 rear wing out of the container to fit onto the car it looked fantastic..
we will have to see what 2010 brings...!

Very cool show. Does anyone know about the DVD that is mentioned on the NatGeo website.
- Porsche recently released a two-and-half-hour documentary DVD on the company’s history. The film covers the very early days of the Ferdinard Porsche and gives details of the history of the German car maker decade to decade.
That dyno test seemed to be quite limited (75MPH max) and short. Noticed that engines are cold-tested (sans fluids) and apparently not hot-tested? That gives new meaning to break-in...
