Supercharger/turbo and 3rd radiator

Hi,

Could somebody who knows about this stuff explain me please - what is the usual application for 3rd radiator in case of supercharged/turbo mod done to regular engine?

I mean - what specifically should 3rd radiator should be helping with - working as additional radiator for regular coolant or as dedicated separate intercooler circuit?

And in case if this central 3rd radiator will be dedicated to intercooler only - will stock set of 2 radiator be sufficient to provide adequate temperature to turboed/supercharged engine? What is the common/best practice with this?

We use them for cooling the A/W IC, What you speak of might work fine but we saw the void and available parts and took advantage of it, not terribly expensive either. I cant speak for all of the other companies though.

Well, I just wonder how different designs do come together and what do people have on their cars. I used to have TT Supra which engine I fried to death due to my own stupidity , so now I really want to know up front what is it I am going to do prior to doing anything.

It has no direct relevance to your design per se, I just want to know all general implications. Plus I do plan to track my car a lot after I get turbo on so engine block heat is a conceptually big issue here, for me. I am trying to understand if it would be required to change decklid design, have additional heat dispensers, fans, etc. I want at minimum to understand all possible implications more or less clearly.

Along with the third radiator, another option IS to wire your cooling fans(2 up front and the deck lid one) to switches that when 'on' will run the fans ALL the time...especially during track time or HOT summer days and when the switch is off.....they will operate like normal!

A third radiator, in the center space of the air dam, is used for the stock tiptronic transmission, X-51 powerkit coolant or aftermarket supercharger intercooler duty.

Common practice for aftermarket purposes to date appears to have been to utilize this radiator opening for the blower intercooler and assume that the engine cooling as is will be adequate.

A custom coolant or induction radiator to supplement this arrangement, whichever it may be, is probably possible. Input from the two most popular manufacturers of supercharger systems, VF and TPC, would be helpful.
