Guys I need your opinion - 997 purchase
On a used car that will not matter.
I think each employee in a dealership has his own target he has to reach. Doesnt matter if it is a used or a new car.
When they have a used 911 standing on their ground for more than 6 months, it makes sense to clear this position.
e.g. the Blue Grass 911. The have this car in stock since June! Or the Brimingham 911 - the car is shipped from one auction to another since 2008
Does anybody think that one of my listed cars might be a good deal under the current price circumstances? Because I think there wont be much moval - perhaps the Birmingham one and with A LOT luck Blue Grass.

Not sure I agree that there is any time table to move a used car.....mine was there on a dealers lot for 1 year before it finally fell to a reasonable price point.
A non porsche dealer near me has an 07 that has been on his lot for 15 months. He has lowered the price about 5K in those 15 months.
I notice CPO cars moving on some dealers sites pretty qucikly and none are listed at the prices suggested here. But their actual costs may be much lower than asking.
I do not think you can get a CPO'ed 06 S in the mid 40's range. I think 50K is more realistic.
To me right now time is on the side of the dealers. They have weathered the storm and the great deals of late summer and early fall moved alot of inventory.
I continue to notice an upward trend in asking prices in the NY-NJ area CPO'ed cars.
I would not go for an 06 that was not CPO'd. Just my personal thinking.
By the way:
Can I get my car certified or "CPO"-ed after purchase?
Just drive to a Porsche dealer and get it certified?
Edit:
I find this one pretty nice for a standrad Carrera, but it has 42.000mls - thats too much
Basalt Black, Sportseats, Bose, Seatheating, PASM, Sportchrono and AWD - not too bad

Search a little and you will find everal threads on it. Short answer is no...you can't just take it to a dealer and get it CPO'ed.
opinion
You're in a great situation right now, since we are coming into winter (as was stated by someone previously) and new sales are still off so used cars are getting cheap. For perspective, I bought my '05 997S in March with 15k miles for $52,000. It had no mods other than tinted windows.
I have to say, although I saved almost $7K over the price of a reasonably equipped/mileage dealer car (CPO), I have spent almost half of that already in maintenance. Now, most of those things weren't warranty issues, so it's not like I spent money I wouldn't have, but a CPO car is LESS LIKELY to have some of the issues I have run into because they would be taken care of pre-purchase as part of the inspection.
My opinion on the cars your looking at, if you have the opportunity to pick up a SINGLE owner car, especially one with remaning CPO (check that it will transfer), I would sacrifice an option or two for those criteria. Forget the first one, I don't know what's up with that. Also think twice about a car that's been advertised on ebay already, only because you don't know how careful the owner is about who has test driven the car (careless "tire kickers"). Second and third look better, mileage is ok and price seems in line with what I've seen in the marketplace. South Carolina car maybe in better shape if inland (no weather issues).
Like others have said, DEFINITELY haggle, it is a buyer's market. Also, don't jump too fast. There will be cars, especially early 997s for sale, if for no other reason other than the fact that people who bought them new a couple years ago can now trade up to an '09 or even 2010 model for MUCH less than good market money, and will look to deal with you.
Good luck with your search, make sure to let us know what you find!!
Ohan
P.S. - I have driven my 997 at the track, as well as aggressively in daily driving, and have not had ANY major problems mechanically.

Hi guys,
after chasing for 996 - I landed at 997.
My budget is absolut max 45.000$ for a normal 997 Carrera.
2005 and 2006 997 are both available in my price range. But after reading about IMS, RMS and all the fun, I want to head for a 2006.
Max Mileage should be 40.000 -/+.
With this limited budget I have to deal with some restrictions concerning options etc. . I think it will be difficult to find my "perfect" 997 in the area(white, brown, 19", full leather and so on)
Now I found several "interesting" 911. At some I already start to haggle.
First one:
Current Price 41.900$ (used to be 43.700)
Engine was removed, no warranty. No further explaination towards the removal. One Owner.
Good options, but supple and tiptronic ( I still dont know if this is a pro or a con).
Seconde One:
Current Price 45.000$ incl. Shipping without SC Sales Tax(4% off)
One owner, less options, but seat heating, bose and sport exhausts ( easy to mod like a "S-look-a-like". CPO
Third one
No haggle for now.
For sale since months. Options OK - I like the leather.
No warranty. Less Mileage! One Owner
and the last one:
One or two owner - for sale for ages. No able to sell for 40.994$ on ebay.
Nearly "nude" 997. But OK. Warranty should be expired in the last days.
So guys, what is in your mind the best one? What do you think is a realistic price for such 997? Which discount is accessible when paying cash?
I am pretty new to all this haggle stuff
Or might a 996 with my budget better? But in my opinion the 996 interior is a small turnoff (dont take me too serious
)
I hope you can help me. I am searching now for over 3 months....I need a 911

Thanks for your comprehensive and honest post, Ohan.
I just send the silver/blue one my price expectation. Let see what they say.
The CPO is pretty nice, but I still think that I wont buy this one for over 44.000$.
The last one - I found out that it is a one owner - has been not sold for the third or fourth time now on ebay( only one bid at 35.000$).
I am also looking for a 2007 one owner 22.000 meiles on ebay. Asking 49.000$ direct buy. Ending in 2 hours and the bid freezed at 25.000$.
Funny thing: Stock 996 wheels ?!
I already try to sacrifice one or two options, but I still dont know what I want to sacrefice without missing it later
To be honest a Porsche is already in the stock version quite "good", but you always want to have more and more options...
While looking I set my previous owner limit to two. Because it looks pretty strange (especially in Germany) when selling a 4 year old car with 4 perious owner.

I will be putting my loaded launch 997S up for sale early summer. It will have about 35k miles on it at that time. It is loaded with full leather, sport chrono, etc. PLUS ceramic brakes. I'll be asking about $45K then (assuming all things remain equal).
Yeah that sounds pretty decent. But for me it will be too late. I have to own the car at least 6 months in the us for vat and custom free import in germany. that means my latest date would be around end of January.
I just recived the reply from all the dealerships:
One said that there are already some other customers interested (true or untrue)
The other one said - take your time for the decision.
And the last one was pretty offended by my offer. I think although my offer was low(41.500$ incl everthing), he shouldnt be insulted and write a bit inpolite letter - at least its a buyers market and he has this car for nearly 6 months in stock. His second email was nice again - I think he realized that it was a bit too much
But I dont think that there wont be much movement(44.900$)

$49K may probably buy you now CPO '06 C2, C2S will be in area of low 50K something. Look at cars.com - you`ll see price level right away. Ebay is not really relevant for this price check.
Hi guys,
I just saw Expo lowered the price for the 2006 911 on 39.995$.
Dark blue on black is ok. Bose and heatedseats also.
Only changes are the wheels
One owner, 32.000 meiles? It is a Oct. 2005 version - does this car already has the upgraded IMS?
Do you think that is a good deal?
