PCM Failure... PASM Failure...

head scratcher this one... seems like gremlins are testing me...

parked my car in an underground lot after a 30min trouble free drive... left the car for about 45mins and restarted only to find the following errors:

PCM failure ...
PCM recallibration ...
PASM failure ...
PASM recalibration ...

tried turning off the car, resting for 2 mins, then restarting and the same errors came up... drove off and the warning lights (the "!" and "PCM" lights) turned off... got home about 30 mins later and turned off, then turned on the car and never saw the errors again...

anyone with the same experience??

I think that you have a battery issue. I had similar problems with my first 997C2S, mine was due to a lot of short drives (and the odd long one) and using all the accesories.

I solved the problem by using the Porsche Battery Maintainer.

I had a similar experience ( a few less error codes) . I don't recall the explanation as it was over a year ago . To the best of my memory (and i may be wrong) -- the underground garage had a lot of security . There was cameras and guards with radio transmitters and --guessing -- if this is all close enough to the parked car it may disrupt the PCM . Maybe a guard was looking at your car and got a call on his radio.

Much like yours --it was a one time glitch but mine did not have the pasm warning . BTW I have parked there other times but the glitch only happened once.

Get it checked by a dealership regardless.

So confirmed with my service manager that these errors were likely caused by strong electrical fields around the parking lot. He indicates that the electronics onboard are very senstive and can be influenced by radios, security networks and sometimes even older type of mobile phones.

guess we have sensitive cars....
