Installing Gt3 Spoiler Help
Installing Gt3 Spoiler Help
Hello,
i purchased a GT3 wing replica from ebay it arrived its great quality.
My question is how difficult is it to install thsi myself, i need to remove the engine latch, and replcae with this one, i see all the brackets and screws to be removed as well that shouldnt be difficult.
What im wondering is how do i disconect / disable the spoiler button / sensor that raises the wing at certain speeds as i cant have that going up with the new gt3 spoiler.

oh how i wish that was the case. My dealer charged me 1 hour of labour even after complaining several times. $140. Really at their mercy. Hopefully your dealer is nicer than mine.
This is a DIY, but you will likely still need your car coded at the dealer.
Are you installing a GT3 "style" spoiler which simply bolts on on to your existing OEM deck lid, or as I assume, are you installing the spoiler and decklid? Your current decklid has the slat vents, and the GT3 decklid has 2 horizontal scoops.
If my assumptions is correct, and you are installing the GT3 spoiler + GT3 decklid, 90% of the work on this easy DIY is dismantling the current deck and spoiler, transferring over some parts such as the fan and light, etc. In this process, you remove the motor that would be used to raise and lower the OEM speed-variable spoiler on your stock deck. Obviously once you remove the motor, the spoiler won't go up and down. However, without the proper harness and coding (free at my dealer) you will get annoying and incessant warning lights and beeps.
If you give me some info I can walk you through this, it's a breeze with the right tools. It's a 1 person job for all except the last part, where you slide the new decklid assembly into the bracket where it attaches to the car.
Feel free to PM me for my tel number, and I'll lend you a hand.

The new wiring harness enables the centre mounted rear brake light and also gives you a connection for the fan and courtesy light.
Suncoast have them for $49.95:

Dont bother trying to take the harness from your current lid as it's too much trouble and it still wont work (unless you cut the wires for the brake light and loop them back to create the circuit).
