Cool Replacing CD changer in 997 C2S

Just bought my '07 997 C2S with Bose but original factory changer was removed. I have found as used unit with mounting bkt. Can anyone advise me how to re-install and what part(s) I may need? I'm totally clueless but would love to do some DIY on my new ride.

Might I recommend instead of a CD changer, going for a Dension Gateway 500, which will give you iPod integration into your factory PCM- you can control the iPod with your Porsche's radio controls. With an iPod hooked up, you'll have infinitely more music at the ready than you ever will with a CD Changer. I installed mine about 2 weeks ago, and am thrilled with it.

+1, CD changers are limited to 6 CD's, an iPod has 1000's of them.

PM sent. Should be plug and play if car had one before. If the PCM won't recongnize it you'll have to go to dealer to have them hook up PIWIS and make necessary setting changes .

Cool

Thx to all of you for your advice. Will soon find out if it really is plug and play. Meanwhile, I will consider Cattman's advice on the Dension Gateway 500. BTW Cattman, what's the cost and where for best buy? Can the changer be left in place for future resale?

any iPod interface out there - dension, mobridge, etc pretends to be a cd changer to PCM so you cannot keep stock CD changer and iPod controller together. you can keep changer in place but will have to disconnect it from optical loop and it is advised if you keep it plugged in into power - you have to put short loop on its optical interface.

I would not bother in your position to install it - just get Ipod/bluetooth unit installed instead. mobrodge goes for $600-$800 depending where you get it from, dension ipod is cheaper but you will need to shell out for additional unint if you decide to add bluetooth what will make dension solution more expensive than mobridge which has ipod/bluetooth in one box.
