No this is not normal BUT you may not be seeing things exactly right...with the car on you should see the ipod electrical symbol on the ipod. When the car is off, the car powers down over time and this may be what you are seeing. Whenever you unlock the car or open (I think) the driver's side door the power up sequence begins. With the car off and ipod visible from outside the car, when you come back in the morning and just looking into the car (no key or door activity, etc.) is the ipod on? That would not be normal.

Now I plug the usb connector from the Y cable into the car and the ipod charges all the time now even when the car is powered off. The battery doesn't drain since it is always charging and the ipod never turns off! It is always draining the car battery.

Is this normal?

I had my PCM v3.0 replaced at ~2200 miles on my C4S, problem started when my NAV reboots itself continuously and the stealership gave up after a week of troubleshooting.

Glitches and bad behavior with the PCM3.. yes..

I've to the same issue as others: the iPod does not sleep. If I keep it plugged in (via the DIN-idoc only cable) and come back days later, the ipod (Photo model) has the battery drained. Powering up the car causes a reboot of the ipod.. and staring from track 1 again.

I've witnessed on several occasions ( a very few out of over 200 engine starts) that the audio system leaves the SAT radio mode and switches to the FM radio mode, blaring audio at me. This morning it happend as I was putting something in the back seat. It must have given up on the SAT setting (as in my garage I get no XM signal) and switched to FM.. and rather loudly as I now had a radio station blaring at me at 7am.

I also witnessed more of what I think I've been experiencing off and on and attributing to XM's service (navtraffic)... but that may actually be a PCM issue. XM tuner is playing and can change stations just fine. However, I get no (zero) navtraffic data displayed on my map, and no incident reports.. as if there is no navtraffic feed. Normally I would (had have ) suspected the nav-traffic feed from XM. However, I also noticed for the first time, the bottom line in the SAT radio display that read "NO XM SIGNAL".. despite me changing stations back and forth.

So now I'm thinking something in the XM module of the PCM3 is not doing its job.. the system is recieving data.. but the signal detection isn't working right (and that may be whats blocking the navtraffic data from being displayed as well).

Time to make a list for another warranty visit.

Yes as per manual these individual setting menus (except lap and log) are independent of SC. I don't have SC and I believe I had these menus until recently. Now, however, the dealer updated the PCM to 1.4.4 and they are no longer there. I've read that these must be activated by the dealer when there is any update/change and they must have ignored it. Perhaps also they needed to have all the keys there when doing it?...return to dealer with keys??
