Aftermarket Stereo in new Boxster or 911?
Aftermarket Stereo in new Boxster or 911?
I'd love to get a new Boxster or 911 Cab on order, but I really want to put an aftermarket audio system in it. (I really have kicking systems in my current Boxster and 996TT)
I understand the issues of the fiber optics..I would just bypass that. I am more concerned about the dash opening for the radio... or how to get a trim ring for it. Any thoughts?
Has anyone put an aftermarket system in a 997 yet?
Thanks
Chuck

I think you'll have more trouble than just the MOST system. Here's a pic of the 997 unit.

Notice how it gets wider as you move up? No stock stereo system will fit that, which means a custom plate to cover the gap. Plus, I don't know where you would move the HVAC controls if you wanted the unit right below the nav screen. There are no bins like the 996/986 had.
Here's a better pic.

I almost think that you won't be able to add aftermarket items to it...or at least it will cost a bundle.
