Is this place safe to buy from?
Hi,
I was looking for some minor parts and found this web site - looks like a scrap site, but they claim to have some stuff I need, I am just not sure if they are any good:

Have anyone had any experience with this merchant?

They seem to have kind of an iffy reputation. You see alot of complaints about them on the various Porsche sites. I have never bought anything from them so I have no personal experience other than talking to them a couple of times. You can also check Oklahoma Foreign and DC Auto, two big Porsche dismantlers that seem to have good reps. There is another place called German Auto Dismantlers in Georgia, but I have seen alot of bad info on them. Do a google search and you will see it too.
I was talking to them via email and tried to get a picture of a set of brake calipers, when I finally did get the picture, the calipers were dirty and dusty. I asked them to wipe them up a bit with a rag to see if the paint was in OK shape or if it was chipped and scratched, the guy says to me, are you going to buy them or not...I replied not unless I know they are in reasonable condition, he basically told me to get lost!
I was warned about him by one of the local shops that I deal with, they have ordered parts from them only to have them not working and no support as you are buying parts from a car that was involved in an accident of some kind.
Be very cautious when dealing with them.

Happy to help, BTW I have heard that DC Auto and Oklahoma are great to deal with, however they didn't have what I was looking for.
I visited LA Dismantlers a couple of years ago. They get a lot of wrecks coming in, all exotic cars. My sense was they were a little shady, although this doesn't seem unusual in the scrap business. I took a look at some *** seats they had, but they couldn't confirm if they were heated or not, and wouldn't commit or guarantee the functionality of the seats. I passed on them. I don't think I would want to buy anything without going there and seeing it for myself.
